I already have a signal stick and I've often wondered how much better a 1/4 groundplane would be in comparison. I think you've convinced me to go ahead and build one!

I ended up building one of these for 2m and was able to hit a repeater 45 miles out and got great signal with only 5 watts! I did it as cheaply as possible and used coat hangers and a SO239 connector. Planning on building a jungle antenna next.

Did the groundplane beat out the signal stick?

@@mikesmancrafts The signal stick did surprisingly well for what it is but yes it did. The groundplane at about the same elevation performed better. I don't own an SWR meter so I did the best I could to get the measurements right. Buddy said I was extremely clear on his end.

How about trying the abbree antenna unfolded? Those antennas are not designed for use while folded

I've done many test with the abree antenna to see if it matters. I have found that 2 meters it has a minor effect and 70cm there is no difference

@@mikesmancrafts Sorry for the harsh criticism. I was just watching another vlog with the same situation or problem, and actually lots of them. You know how it is with certain ads, with really loud background that you keep adjusting your volume to compensate. Carry on.
