I have a 2017 here and I thought i was the only one seeing this as a downgrade. I couldn’t even get into the land cruiser excitement, so I am not having high hopes for this 4cyl runner. @@Anomize23ehh I have a 2015 TRD Pro that I will never get rid of, but the new powertrain is better in every way to be honest. Obviously I will wait at least 5-10 years to see the durability of these long term. I think these will be a classic in the future just like 5th gens now, 4th gens before that, and 3rd gens before that. Made in Japan is what keeps the appeal high for this vehicle. @getinthespace7715Ай бұрын
Except you gotta dump premium in that twin turbo v6 in the GX550. That increases operating costs by 25-30% and the engines on the gx550 have been going out due to manufacturing issues. I figure in 2-3 years the price of the GX550's used will be at that sweet spot. Dropped about 40-50% from msrp. Then you pick up a good lease return used. There should be some good remaps so you can run regular in it by then without sacrificing much.

Everyone says they're going to buy the TRD Pro. Nobody actually needs it. It's purely a status symbol that's capable. The one people actually want should be the limited, maybe the platinum. The torsen center diff makes it the best all around platform, even if Toyota doesn't put in all the electronic off road goodies. (lockers can always be added) Anyone who actually off roads will buy a cheaper model and upgrade it. Circumvent the Toyota tax and make it their own.

The thing with the 5th generation it didn't matter if you got a base SR5 (like me) or a top of the line Limited, all of them felt solid inside and out. No creaky cheap plastic. The door card materials, the seats, etc, all felt solid and quality. They look, feel , and drive, like like just an honest solid rig that you can keep for 20+ years. This looks like it takes a knee to the iPad babies who want all the tech and bells and whistles. They got it - but the build quality had to take a hit. Otherwise a 60,000 rig would cost 90,000.
