There were many hairstyles, the stick straight mid or side part, the shag, the wedge but the most popular you’re probably talking about is the Farrah Fawcett flip which was basically a feathered shag which gained recognition in 1976 when Charlie’s Angels aired.

Old? Who are you calling old? lol Ok, so the redhead performed straight out magic. We didn't really get our hair to look like this. Some came close. But this is full on model hair. I had naturally curly hair but tried my darnedest for the inappropriately named "china doll" cut. And there was the "mushroom" cut. Dorothy Hamill was also a big influence. Let's not forget that punk and new wave came in in the 70s. It wasn't all Charlie's Angels.

For the black girls who wanna get the look, just do what our mothers or grandmother's did. All you need is some setting lotion or moisturizing mousse for curly hair, put the hair in rollers, go under the dryer, put on low heat setting , put some hair spray on while rolled up and there you go. For the clothes, amazon has some cool choices.

@@kjones3748 you don't have to straighten your hair to get the seventies look and many people know that lol There are so many alternatives now. Like wigs, and braiding hair. For those who can do that, those are the options. It's simple enough to look up these things instead of doing stuff like this. I get what you're saying though but with the internet we have literally no excuse not to try these styles 🤷🏿‍♀️.

@LangugesLearning
@LangugesLearning 3 жыл бұрын
@@charlieh1427 The second half of the 70s (especially Disco) is typically over-represented everywhere else though. So I'm personally pleased that the tiktok community shows a lot of the early 70s, because that's my all--time favorite era lol. And maybe there are some creators who have done a late 70s punk look on tiktok. You could look for them on the app and then make a video compilation of only late 70s punk.
@charlieh1427
@charlieh1427 3 жыл бұрын
@@LangugesLearning it’s really nice that you like early 70s and all but lmao where is the over representation. The real problem is that they make the fashion here palatable to modern trends and just ignore counterculture entirely. There aren’t the swathes of authentic 70s punk looks than there are a 2020s loose interpretation of hippie fashion.

We should bring back that feathered hair. Not for me personally mind you, but it's a great style I'd love to see come back into fashion. It's so mature and elegant. PS, you are allowed to like the styles of certain eras in the past without condoning the social issues of those times. I don't "wish I was born in the 80s" or whatever, I just like the wacky fashion, the amazing music, weird/limited run foods/drinks/candies, quirky tech stuff, and the general colorful and wacky vibe that time had, it all seemed more artistic. I'm still very very grateful to be born in 2000 and be in a better (but not perfect) place when it comes to equality for all people. I wouldn't change when I was born. Things come in and out of fashion all the time. Scrunchies, jean jackets and other trends from the past seem to be on the rise again as of late. The trick to enjoy time period-based aesthetics is to make sure you don't view the past through rose colored glasses, but see things as they really were. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, one we younger gens aren't immune from just because we didn't actually live through and experience that era. Our parents and "80s kids" in general who influence us are a predominantly privileged white group who didn't personally experience inequality, with the added context of literally being ignorant children at the time, so they perceive their childhoods to be pristine and perfect, unmarred by the social issues most grew up blissfully unaware of. One can only hope we one day create a world as safe, peaceful and equal as in the mind of a young child.

The 1970's fashion is kinda different, IMO. Check Farrah Fawcett, Donna Summer and ABBA. The 1980's fashion is more extravagant and flamboyant. Check Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and Janet Jackson. I can't talk properly about fashion, but that's what I feel.

Also where are the platform shoes? Also the last song you played in this video might actually be from the late 1960s.

What was it like? Sorry, the only things I know about Argentina are Evita, the Falkland Islands, and Maradona.
