Old? Who are you calling old? lol Ok, so the redhead performed straight out magic. We didn't really get our hair to look like this. Some came close. But this is full on model hair. I had naturally curly hair but tried my darnedest for the inappropriately named "china doll" cut. And there was the "mushroom" cut. Dorothy Hamill was also a big influence. Let's not forget that punk and new wave came in in the 70s. It wasn't all Charlie's Angels.

For the black girls who wanna get the look, just do what our mothers or grandmother's did. @@charlieh1427 The second half of the 70s (especially Disco) is typically over-represented everywhere else though. @@LangugesLearning it’s really nice that you like early 70s and all but lmao where is the over representation. We should bring back that feathered hair. Not for me personally mind you, but it's a great style I'd love to see come back into fashion. It's so mature and elegant. PS, you are allowed to like the styles of certain eras in the past without condoning the social issues of those times. I don't "wish I was born in the 80s" or whatever, I just like the wacky fashion, the amazing music, weird/limited run foods/drinks/candies, quirky tech stuff, and the general colorful and wacky vibe that time had, it all seemed more artistic. I'm still very very grateful to be born in 2000 and be in a better (but not perfect) place when it comes to equality for all people. I wouldn't change when I was born. Things come in and out of fashion all the time. Scrunchies, jean jackets and other trends from the past seem to be on the rise again as of late. The trick to enjoy time period-based aesthetics is to make sure you don't view the past through rose colored glasses, but see things as they really were. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, one we younger gens aren't immune from just because we didn't actually live through and experience that era. Our parents and "80s kids" in general who influence us are a predominantly privileged white group who didn't personally experience inequality, with the added context of literally being ignorant children at the time, so they perceive their childhoods to be pristine and perfect, unmarred by the social issues most grew up blissfully unaware of. One can only hope we one day create a world as safe, peaceful and equal as in the mind of a young child.
