Just wanted to share a blessed i received. One Christmas , as self employed, I was working so many hours serving my clients that literally it was two days before Christmas and i was at the mall just starting my Christmas shopping. I came out of a store with gifts . And a person asked me if their church could help me with wrapping my gifts. I was so stressed that I was just starting my shopping, I had not even thought about wrapping. I was so moved, i actually started crying. Their church had a wrapping station set up in the mall. No charge, but you could donate. I will always remember how much that touched me. I stood there and watched the youth wrapping up my presents and just cried. If I had a thousand bucks to give them, I would have. Of course I made a generous donation. But i couldn't bless them as much as they they blessed me. ❤

I do that, too. Whoever comes for Christmas gets an ornament with their name and year. They don’t keep them, but put them on my tree. Then in the next years, it’s fun to hunt for all your ornaments and remember the stories about them that we remember. My son has 30 on there, and he’s still excited to look for all of them every year.

Once my children grew & left the house, I quickly downsized to a smaller Christmas tree. I must have waited a bit TOO long to find a decorative tree skirt because I couldn’t find ANYTHING🤦🏻♀️ I happened to be in the sewing/crafts aisle and VOILA’......I saw my solution 🤩 Christmas patterned FABRIC!! Just bought a yard that caught my eye (which was very inexpensive) & draped it around the base, being careful to tuck over the raw edges the best I could - SO pretty!🎄! 👍

I have always placed our Christmas trees (we do several every year) on top of tables! I promise you, it's an absolute game-changer!! (We always buy REAL trees, and they're quite large - over 12' tall. The tables I use are usually end tables, around 18" high.) Makes it SO much easier to place gifts under - And it just LOOKS prettier! Cover the table with a beautiful faux fur/cable knit/sherpa/fuzzy blanket and let it puddle onto the floor... GORGEOUS! ❤💚

Love these ideas. I haven't wrapped a gift for my 2 children since 2018, we use heavy duty canvas laundry bags that look like Santa's bag. Using their favorite color, I drew their names and decorated each. It's great because the size helps with limiting the amount of gifts and the only clean up, is the packaging the items came in. The only down side is as they get older (not wanting toys anymore), the bag looks flatter compared to the younger sibling because a lot of what they want are usually smaller more expensive items.

Our main tree (in the living room) is 12 feet tall so no need to raise it. But I always put up a smaller 6 foot tree in the kitchen with all of my angel ornaments. I use the plastic bin that stores the angel ornaments to raise the tree. Just cover with a Christmas plaid fabric and then lay the tree skirt over that. It’s one less box to stash back in the garage during the Christmas season.

We have a tradition of doing the wrapper paper per kid and one more for parent/everybody gifts. They each get a small gift wrapped in their stocking so they know which paper is theirs, then we take turns wearing a Santa hat and whoever is wearing said hat distributes one present to each person. Slows down the whole process and makes them appreciate each gift a little more before ripping into the next one and just makes Christmas feel bigger over all lol (I just have to make sure there's at least an even number of presents spread among the kiddos and enough "everybody" presents so they have something to hand to mom and dad, they don't like it when they run out of stuff to give us too, cuties 💕). I also save nice boxes, tissue paper, and have nice homemade reusable tags and ribbon. That way every year the most I'm spending in wrapping might be replacing just the paper if I ran out the year before so more of my Christmas budget can go to their presents instead of throw aways. It works out pretty well for us.

You could do coordinated colors/patterns in your theme? For instance: Candy cane red and white stripes; a green buffalo plaid; a plain red; a plain green; even a plain white. Sometimes you can buy sets of paper that all coordinate with one another even. So each person could still have an individual color, but all together they still coordinate and go with your theme. :)

Two years ago was the year to clean up the decades of left over wrapping paper ends from everyone having a distinct one every year. It took much longer. Since the youngest was a teenager and I was exhausted, I put name tags on nothing. We have always taken turns, guessing what the gift is before opening. Most gifts were obvious as to whom the recipient should be (but I had veto rights) - it was a hit with much laughter. I, too, raise my tree up on something but I differ in that I use a table cloth as the tree skirt. It drapes beautifully and already works in the room.

Wow, just 2 minutes in and already learning a lot! Love the thought of using ornament hooks for garland! Why didn't I think or that? I recommend putting a nail/screw/ hook somewhere to anchor the tree to a wall and/or ceiling. Especially if you raise the tree. Cats, kids, tipsy folks, wobbly folks, and trying to put more water in reservoir can all lead to disaster. Heavy duty fishing line is nearly invisible for this. Wish I kept my old MOP and GLO.

Love the last one with the 5 mini white trees, would look amazing with twinkle lites on it. 40+ years ago when I was expecting my son. I got a book on wrapping presents in different ways, they were great for the Adults but it was years before I could use them on my kids, I think I started in their teens. Oh something my Dad did one year, he had been got a huge Scaletrix Set, the box was like 3 ft x 4 ft, he got a letter on the tree with his Name on, he was told to leave it till last. The letter was written in code, and took him allover the house with clues hidden in various places, we still don't know how he did it, as some of the clues were in our bedrooms, taped under beds, inside wardrobes. It ended up being in exactly where the first clue was but it was behind the book case with a cloth over the top as usual with flowers on top, it was in the front hall with the front door, absolutely freezing in the winter and so cool in the summer, it had been placed so we couldn't see it on the one side that wasn't against the wall.

When I was a kid, my Mom used a white sheet as a tree skirt. It looked so pretty!

I put mine on an end table. It's a 7ft tree and that made it a 10 ft tree. That wall is 16 ft. Then the stuff I had coming out of the top made it 12ft. 😊
