WEBSITE: www.arteigur.is There is another turbine that is further down that generates 500kW. So in total 1.2MW The elevation difference is 237 meters and the water flow about 380 Liters per second!

1. We have build 3 turbines on the same river. 120Kw.(about 1980) 500Kw (2005) and 715kw (2008) 2. Yes it would be but we make our turbines our self, and 715kw was the largest we had ever build and we could not see us (some farmers and electricians) build that large scale water turbine. 3. Not sure about the investment on the generator but I think it was about 80.000$ -120.000$ 4. Yes this one powers is 715Kw max! 5. 15-20 years I think. Thank you for watching! and Sry for late reply

Sir, I'm really Interested watching the Installation of the 715kw Turbine. how much was the total cost includes the Turbine, the penstock pine and the complete Installation of the power station and accessories cost? Thank you sir, I'm really impressed with the quality of the Hydro Turbine Generator and will appreciate your response on the cost of the Hydro Turbine Generator.

Amazing! Without any polish, very little noise, the Pelton turbine is without a doubt amazing. They should be more used around the world. Especially here in Brazil. Thanks for the video!

that depends on the height and flow rate difference, on whether to choose for a Kaplan, Pelton or Francis turbine.

Really a good job of power generation with Pelton turbine. We have similar in Lombok island, Indonesia ; 2 units of 1,900 kW ; Head is 285 m ; Water disharge 1.6 m3/sec ; Penstok dia 90 cm and 1,682 m long ; connected to grid of 20 kV line ; commissioned Jan 2013 ; so far so good but now there is small water due to El Nino

I was watching a few water turbine videos, mostly from a guy how build his own "one family" sized turbine for his house somewhere in the Colorado mountains, when I came across this video. Nervous me skipped the intro and just watched the part with this nice turbine and the electrical cabinets when the camera faded out to show the outside. Around 3:10 I started to wonder if this turbine might be based in Iceland, the most beautiful country I went (just a year ago) and I wasn't disappointed when I took a closer look to the description...but I couldn't imaging that such a small turbine (house) could power 700 houses. I am not really into water turbines (yet ;)) and expected a turbine with around 100kW for a few houses inside a buildings sized like this (but I have to admit, even for my inexperienced eyes, its a lot of water coming out of the turbine house for "just" 100kW)
@NoreXIceland12 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! : ) Yes we know that, thank you. We found solution after the video! the solution was to but powerful fans that would blow air around the turbine. It worked very well.

Первая проблема это прямой привод генератора с турбиной что влечет за собой быстрый износ подшипников из-за вибраций, вторая: турбина должна находится в независимом помещение от генератора на случай если выдавит сальник или произойдет разрыв трубы.

@lucasschofield87168 жыл бұрын
I would imagine full bore so that you can make use of the full volume of water at a given velocity, it also reduces frictional losses in the inlet pipe. the only reason I can think of to limit the nozzle would be to give the water much higher velocity in a high pressure scenario.

They are wasting massive power! They should connect a pipe to the output and build another generator building daisy chaining them every 200ft head drop down the hill all the way to the bottom... The additional vacuum pressure from each drop pipe would also increase power at each station.
@DanDan-dn5lt7 жыл бұрын
Geo K Good idea I thought the same 👍
@ghostxop21017 жыл бұрын
That isn't wasting anything in the sense that you say they are, they are however missing out on opportunity.
@TheScoutGuyYTPs7 жыл бұрын
......maybe consider learning some physics before you say anything. Water will lose it's pressure after turning it into energy. Turbines have resistance depending on how much power they want to get out of it or how many things are connected to it. This means, it will slow down the water, lower the pressure and the next turbine will be more inefficient and generate less power.
@TheScoutGuyYTPs7 жыл бұрын
But making it all the way downhill is better than stacking it. Didn't quite read that right. But yeah, it wouln't be as efficient.
@NoreXIceland7 жыл бұрын
Hi! We actually do that, there are 2 more turbines after this one. So we use the same water 3 times. We used daisy chaining to build smaller but more affordable turbines.

In a much smaller version of this,that's ran by a pool pump,but restricting the size of the flow. By either, two methods. 1st method, is to increase pressure by creating a fan effect. Sort of,like when you put your finger over a water hose. Thus, running it over a HVAC squirrel cage. That is hooked, to a Generator. 2 nd method, would be using a pelton wheel,that's being pushed by forward and also backward. By two jet streams. That is, also hooked to a 7000 watt generator. Will the load, cause the wheel to slow or stop? Keep in mind, that the Generator would be separated from all liquids. By Plexiglas . Will this work? on maybe a 20 kw generator???? Or to what size, do you think it would run? If any. Thank you.
@lucasschofield87168 жыл бұрын
when not connected drawing power the type of turbine connected should make little difference (ie: the more power you're drawing the greater the load on the generator, like the alternator in your car, turning on lights/heating/a.c. Will mean a greater force is required to turn the alternator)

@rogerblackwood88158 жыл бұрын
+James Edmonds Because you need elevation to create the water pressure, its called the water head and its something like 250 meters or so? If you just made a dam there it wouldnt have a fraction of the power. Imagine having a 50 gallon drum and taking the top off and filling it with water. Then take out the bung and water will flow but not at any great pressure. Now imagine a 10" pipe 200 meters long but vertical, fill it with water and you will have a shed load of pressure, which is what you need to drive the turbine. They make a feed point like 500 or more meters from the power house, and that is how you get the 25 bar pressure, or 400 psi if you prefer.
