That 57 chevy does have the "V" on the hood emblem, indicating a factory v8... 283 originally... 😎👍🏼
@robertnussberger20282 жыл бұрын
It Probably was like a small block v8. They went like 70. This was the time when farm trucks were seen as wheel barrels on four wheels instead of sports cars; simply something used to get hard work done.

i remember when i was a kid my uncle dale used to have one of these... think his was a 54...... my dad and i were driving home one day and i asked him to floor it and he did that 283 with a shit ton of miles on it was so slow lol but she still ran good and got us from point A to B and to C ........ my uncle installed seat belts because 1 day he slam the brakes and his son eat metal dash board.....

In real life that Plymouth Police car would have caught that old truck in the first block. That 216 cubic inch truck motor was no match for that 440 . Not only that the first time that Chevy pickup touched that water in the LA River it would have immediately rusted in half.

..the truck had plot armor & was bound to get away..those cop Satellites would of ate his lunch in seconds, lol agreed. even if that truck did have a transplanted hot engine, the Satellites superior handling & braking would of won the day in short order.

Police spec Plymouths had a top speed of 130 to 150 mph depending on the engine I love me apache but down hill with the wind to its back it's top speed was maybe 85 90 mph

That second cruiser was more of a Plymouth Submarine than a Satellite... Mind you, those Plymouths must have had a serious amount of horses and torque under the bonnet/hood, when the second unit comes out of the water and gases it, you can clearly see it break traction and crab up the road until the driver backs off. It's seriously impressive to do that in such a heavy car when it's already moving at a decent speed...

It's funny this truck was only 20 years old at the time, but in every movie since until modern day all "old cars" look the same (in terms of condition) with the same patina lol. It's like these old movie cars only age 20 years or so and that is it - they look the same forever. A 20 year old Silverado in a modern movie will look new on the flip side.
@CarChaseWonderland2 Жыл бұрын
And typically the movie character driving the truck is over the age of 70. But not in this movie.

yup, those muscle era mopar cop cars were legit 4 dr muscle cars..and the cops rly knew how to tune the carbs/distributors. handling/braking was fabulous, as well. the 11x3" drums with semi-metallic shoes were dang good.. can do a 100-0 mph max braking 3x back to back before encountering real fade..drums got a bad name from ..well, GM used a lot of 9" brakes..even on the GTO's and ppl buying cheap shoes. plus the Mopar drums could take a beating that'd warp most rotors, back then. it wasn't till '73 that Chrysler finally made front discs that were better..11.75" unicast..very beefy vented rotors.

I out ran the cops when I was a kid in a 1956 Chevy 3100 series truck with a 455 Buick v8 an a rock crusher 4 speed stick back in 2005. I had 3 cars chasing me. One hit a tree. The other slid into a deep ditch. An the other hit head on with a John Deere harvester. Then a state trooper came up behind .e a tried to pull a pit on my truck an I pushed a button hooked up to a lil pump an line linked to my card with a hose coming outta a gallon jug of moonshine. The truck ran on high alcohol gas.
