id like to request Scholomance. I always find it interesting imagining the instance map inside something small like the hill at Scholomance where Kritinos is. Great videos!

Second vote for Scholomance, that area has a really cool history through Alpha/Beta (planned but not implemented) and it'd be really interesting to see how the model & locale fits together, in the style of this video series. It's another instance that does have a view of "outside" with the gargoyle (Kirtonos) fight on the balcony.

Fun fact (and very subjective, though) when you enter the courtyard at Neuschwantstein Schloss in southern Germany, it’s like stepping in to real-world SFK. I would argue that they got the design inspiration from that castle, also nestled in some foothills to a mountain, overlooking a village and surrounded by dark pine forests. Kinda cool.

I just started and I can't wait to unpause - just wanted to leave some feedback, your videos are so great! Not only is the actual content of your channel great, you present it really well. It doesn't feel forced, or overwritten, you speak about what you're doing in an easily understandable way... Especially considering you have like 4 programs you're using to show us all this cool stuff. Keep it up please!

Amazing, when i realize that someone was creating this world, in which i’m running now with my character, while i was 8 years old and had no clue about computers at all. I was running outside and playing with sand and some other cool dude was making my future Azeroth universe where i spend time now, 21 years later.

its also really cool to see the visual differences with the colors and visual ambience. We can see the original colors on the textures and props, and also see how the colors have changed when they added the final touches in game. I love it.

Shadowfang Keep is one of my all-time favorite dungeons. I always loved the layout, because it reminds me of this old haunted house attraction that was at a theme park I used to go to. It had messed sideways hallways and stuff that looked similar to some of the corridors in SFK.

I remember exploring the SFK map during classic by jumping down the round hollow tower to the north of the entrance wall and running along the textured bed for the SFK model. i had to steer away from the entrance because u get teleported out if u got too close, i think the safe way out was going towards the coast. i still have some screenshots of my warrior in that untextured white section of the map. so much fun looking at this overview of the whole thing

I'm not sure if Blizzard employees acutally analyse the OG dungeons/raids - in my personal opinion modern dungeon are one dimensional, compared to older ones, built with using simple tricks of spiral staircases, hubs (like the tower in this particular video). Great content my man. Thanks a ton!

4:25 sort of a reason why its model as well as it is. from my time when I was playing as a hunter in burning crusade-early cata. hunter vision and shaman vision. Im not sure if the game let the shaman vision totem jump around whit the vision inside but I recall as a hunter that I could hit the roof of Shadowfang keep from outside the dungeon so there needed to be just enouth detail for a at the time of release a 1024x768ish CTR screen (maybe a few early LCD screen) in 15-21 inch so that me eagle eyeing to the roof/wall of Shadow fang keep would not revile a hollow inside. and I think it was as I did not see anything from what I remmber beening missing minus maybe no NPC. this was from when we had the party at shadowfang keep and we was just waiting on the last player to get here after they realized oh my armor is not at 100% or I need to buy ammo.
@DivineBanana2 ай бұрын
There is a cool little detail about this dungeon, when you are navigating the wall-walks or chemin de ronde around the upper perimeter of the castle (like the area you show around 11:30) there are areas where you can jump off the side and out of the instance. However, it doesnt just port you to the entrance, it will actually port you up in the air, around the walls of the side of the castle and drop you off, as if you really did jump off the side of the castle. I havent done this myself, but we almost lost a party member in HC who did this instead of jumping down into the courtyard lol. Anyway, they survived but now i wonder if it actually drops you off at the same spot where you jump, or if there is just a single spawn point that it brings you to. Like does the spawn match up inside and outside where you jump out? idk, I think it could be interesting to dig into that and find out! Also i feel like im doing a HORRIBLE job explaining all that, so hopefully what im saying makes sense lol.
@720zone2 ай бұрын
Your explanation is great, and you're 100% correct. When you jump off the South side of the walkway, from within the dungeon, you are zoned out and end up on the ground right next to the dungeon, back in Eastern Kingdoms. I did this while making the video, and had a little piece where I explained that, which I ended up editing out. I should have kept it. I never thought to test if you load back into Eastern Kingdoms where you dropped out, or at specific coors, I'm guessing its the latter. Really appreciate the thoughtful comment here. Thank you!
@DivineBanana2 ай бұрын
@720zone thank you for confirming. I just thought it was such a cool little detail that you could actually do that instead of the devs just putting up invisible walls or sending you back to the entrance portal. Such a small little detail but to me it really shows how much consideration and effort they put into every aspect of the vanilla zones! So thank you for taking the time to demonstrate and share with us all these cool little things the devs did to make this the best MMO ever!

It's possible that the doodads for the buildings were simply removed from the in-instance map to save memory. Specifically in the north east white sector there's a lot of buildings

The patch notes for 0.5.3. mention "Added phat lewt to Shadowfang bosses.", so SFK was based on the Eastern Kingdoms maps from patch 0.5 or before for sure.

Hi Zone! I wonder if SFK was one of the dungeons where the dungeon object was made first, and then the overworld facade object was made after. Which other dungeons were like that?
@720zone2 ай бұрын
I think many of them were made that way, but my belief is that they would often create the dungeon model, then duplicate a piece of it to fit into the overworld as the entrance. I really love your type of question - exactly the type of stuff I'm trying to figure out poking around in these maps and models.
