They must have really had some issues at Horseferry Road that evening if they’re still persisting after the delay of the film. The lack of an actual moving ident and lack of 4-Tel speaks volumes.

That caption's unusual, as it would usually be 4-tel on view during closedown. They did use a caption like this (in a different style) during the first half of 1993 (when there was no 4-Tel on view) and also on nights when they'd re-open to show a schools programme, then close down again after, but as this is neither of these, I'm guessing it's down to the issues C4 were having.

It's quite an unusual closedown, just a frame of a logo and then a slide with info instead of teletext pages.

Its weirdness is related to the technical fault from earlier the same night that I posted a bit of a few days ago.

He still does announcements for C4 I think (and I think E4 as well now) too!

The 16:9 project would probably be related to PALPlus which, I believe only Channel 4 officially tried out. I suspect a few films on ITV which were shown in 16:9 at the time may have been in PALPlus but without fanfare.

@@stickytapenrust6869 That's what I meant by "a few films on ITV". I remember seeing "Oklahoma!" in letterbox on Granada where they had the stereo legs swapped.
