40 years later, "All Time High" remains the most mellow James Bond song ever. A title it will keep until Michael Buble does one. (Don't think it can't happen!)

Wonder why there were long periods of a blackout until the signal cuts out. I’m sure there’s no genuine reason for it. I’m assuming a feed from Thames ends and then someone at the transmitter flicks a switch.

It’s an automatic, pre-programmed shutdown time. The IBA’s policy before 1985 was to give it half an hour of black as standard in case programmes overran. If they overran more than 30 minutes then the IBA would need to be notified so they could amend the time the transmitters were programmed to shut down.
