This man is loved by every generation in Australia. When he finally passes away there will literally be people crying in the streets and the entire country will go into mourning. He is a once in many generations voice, and we are so proud of him, and the lovely, kind, funny down to earth guy he is. The Melbourne Centre where the Australian Tennis Grandslam is held each year has had, over the years, had more than 1,000,000 people see a John Farnham concert there, and there's only 26,000,000 of us. No1 hits in every decade for 5 decades. Last performance I know of was Fire Aid January 2020. Others cancelled due to Covid.

I can't even think about the day that he passes away. He has been such a constant in my entire life (I'm 41 now). His voice is as familiar to me, perhaps even more so, than that of my own uncles. He is a national treasure and I can't even describe how loved he is.

That was a lovely comment you made about the difference that maturity can make to a person’s singing voice. Not only is this true about John Farnham, but also for Joni Mitchell. I highly recommend that you watch a YT video “Joni Mitchell - Both Sides Now 2000 lives”. The most recent comment said it all: “A 24 year old songwriter wrote a song for her 57 year old self to sing. Remarkable”. That comment received over 2K likes and I had to swipe up 11 times to read all the insightful additions to that succinct comment from 2 years ago! This is the level of respect that John Farnham receives and is well-deserved by both artists.

Just for information, John's comments about his Last Time Tour was that he was not retiring, he was just not going to do the large touring in large arenas anymore. He still attended smaller events. He wanted to end on a high at the right time on those big sold out venues. He had stated that his fear was when the shows were no longer a full house, and he didn't want to sing to the crickets. Like that would happen, we love him. If he didn't want to sing anymore I would still turn up just to see a standup comedy show from him. Such a genuine down to earth Aussie.

Interesting to compare this with your earlier review of John during his Whispering Jack period. The audience thought this might be the last time they would get to see their hero in live concert. So it was pretty emotional. How could you say goodbye to such a vocal phenomenon, part of your life for so long?

What also made this so much more poignant, was that it was the very last show of the "farewell" tour. Now, ppl have always joked that it was a farewell tour that he never retired from, but he said he was farewelling from the big arena tours where he had to carry the weight of selling out the entire place night after night, all on his own...so he just wanted to do smaller shows, tours with other ppl like he did with Olivia Newton John, Tom Jones, the summer tours etc. He wasn't away from home for as long then either.

Personally was so much better at the Palais Theatre, because every seat had a great view and was a bit more intimate. Yes he could still fill the big venues where the atmosphere is totally amazing . Hey there, I’m pretty sure that John’s last few shows were in late 2021. John Farnham is the best singer I’ve ever heard, and I’m totally from a hard rock/ heavy metal band and fan base who thought that Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie James Dio and Klaus Miene were the best in the business, but I’ve always been biased towards John. John has the most amazing voice, clean, pure and raspy and I think he’s the best of all time, Steve Hayes… 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺👏👏👏❤🦘🦘🦘

@@micko11154 Wow, who's talking about technical ability - I'm talking about, passion, style, energy. Farnham is vanilla, middle-of-the-road tat. Enjoyed by grannies, the chardonnay set who have no idea what 'art' actually is, other than background decorations to their divorces, and the wanna be karaoke divas. Not understanding that when Farnsy's first notes hit their eardrums in their youth, that the burgeoning flush of puberty confused this as a world-shattering revelation. Give me a break.
