You ever encounter a 722.6 that only grinds when it’s at operating temperature (no grinding on cold starts) just out right loud grinding it’s not tossing a code but it’s making some insane noises I’d love to link a video so you can hear it first hand I did fluid, filter new seal connector and conductor plate with solenoids I can’t seem to figure out this issue it’s not low on fluid it’s not over filled just one day it started to make this sound it’s by the fire wall driver side not noticeable underneath vehicle in P and N idling it just makes that loud noise in D & R when idle no loud sound once I apply pressure to the pedal it will begin to grind very low but the vehicle moves I’m absolutely stumped

@@CurmudgeonTransmission I am at a loss, just finished putting everything back together, i got a steady stream of fluid most likely between the converter and pump, it just dumps all the fluid if left to idle, has new seals, new bushings, any idea what can cause this?
@CurmudgeonTransmission Жыл бұрын
Just going to have to get it back out. Something with the pump or the converter.

My transmission has 180.000 km in city, and at about 10.000 km I replaced the TCC / PWM solenoid, mainly to eliminate the cold hesitation and it worked ! To completely eliminate the flares of 2-3 or 1-2 mainly, now I’m thinking in installing Transgo Shift Kit SK 722.6 - A and Sonnax 68942-23K TCC Damper Valve together. What do you think about these kits, are enough to do an overhaul? If you can advise me on the replacement of any other parts, I would be grateful. Have a very good 2021 !
@CurmudgeonTransmission4 жыл бұрын
I have never put either kit in, good idea if you believe you are having problems in those areas. Be very careful taking those bolts out, they have a tendency to seize up and break off. I use a bit driver so I can get a good feel for the resistance and work it back and forth until it loosens up. Some are bad about this others are not. I usually put a kit with clutches and the piston in the pump, pump bushing, filter, conductor plate and pass thru connector for the harness. You might as well put both sprags in while you are there. Have a great year as well. Thanks for watching.

Great video.....i want to rebuild my transmission. Because it has a ton of miles 200,000+ and while driving i have intermittent hesitation. I have no codes and other than the hesitation issue it seems ok.
@CurmudgeonTransmission3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. There are 2 different size K2 clutches. The three pinion planet takes the smaller ones, four pinion the larger ones. Keep an eye on that and this video should get you there. Thanks for watching, good luck on your rebuild.

Hi great video! Do you know what it could be if trans is leaking from the black overfill cap? (It pours right out when car is warm and it just leaks all the fluid out as it’s not overfilled) Or it could be leaking between the bell housing and stator
@Kriss010104 жыл бұрын
Any thoughts would be appreciated!!
@CurmudgeonTransmission4 жыл бұрын
If the fluid id coming out the vent and it is not over full then there is a restriction in the cooler lines or it is over heating. If it is coming out the front it may have spun the bushing in the pump or it is just a problem with the seal or o-ring.

My transmission acts like it goes into neutral shifting from first gear to second gear. What causes this? My other jeep shifts normal but once it warms up will not shift out of first gear.
@CurmudgeonTransmission4 жыл бұрын
If it goes to neutral above 18mph but goes back into gear below that and has a code P0730 stored in the computer it is probably a conductor plate. Really need more info and the codes that are in the computer.

Can the NAG1 be turned into a 6 gear transmission , like the RAM Aisin transmission that is identical mechanicly as a 5 or 6 gears except for valve body and smarts ?
@CurmudgeonTransmission3 жыл бұрын
It's possible, there are a bunch of transmissions that are like that.
@tetedemarc3 жыл бұрын
@@CurmudgeonTransmission Wow that was a quick reply. So you do not know of the recipe for that conversion . Or know of a car that might have the expected version of a possible 6 speed NAG1 ?
@CurmudgeonTransmission3 жыл бұрын
@@tetedemarc I'm sorry, no I am not aware of it or if it can be done. But I do know there are several that are capable of it with programming, just don't know if it can be done on this one.

My 722.6 Mercedes transmission (2003 MB C240) Seems to shift very harshly from 1st to 2nd, when accelerating AND decelerating. Seems to be getting worse, so I put it into "W" mode so that it will start off in 2nd. Almost feels like the torque converter is locking up and unlocking randomly, or at the wrong time or something. Changed fluid and filter. Very very dark in color. Couldn't get it clean after three drain and fills. Should I be rebuilding it im assuming??
@CurmudgeonTransmission4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you probably have internal problems, any codes in the system?
@Johnathan_Waters4 жыл бұрын
@@CurmudgeonTransmission No Codes!
@CurmudgeonTransmission4 жыл бұрын
@@Johnathan_Waters The dark fluid is indication of internal problems, as to what caused them is another matter. These have problems with fluid traveling up the wiring harness and filling the computer with fluid, sometimes you can clean it out with electronic cleaner and solder the wires to prevent it from happening again, other times the computer will need to be replaced. One of the most common problems is with the conductor plate, I always replace it no matter if it is bad or not. Lesser times the solenoids themselves are bad, I have rarely had to replace them. Internally you just never know what you will find till you get in there.

@@CurmudgeonTransmission I did have the oil in wiring harness issue. Only a small amount got into computer, I was able to catch it early enough. Replaced the 13 pin connector and it cured that issue. So I guess drive it until it wont go anymore then tear down the transmission??
