**** Due to coronavirus I was unable to retrieve Lisa's microphone before I had to leave my campus to return home:( Therefore, unfortunately, Lisa's audio isn't the best. I apologize for this, however I wanted to share all of Lisa's beautiful answers! Hope you can still enjoy!

I’m from Australia and American colleges are so fascinating to me. On one hand I love how passionate people are about furthering their education, but on the other it seems like it completely defines an individual and where you go to college/what to do is the most important thing in life.
@oliviazissel45934 жыл бұрын
I’m from the US and I think you’re right. Since she’s interviewing students at top colleges, they probably care a lot more about college than people in average or below average schools.
@marisa7684 жыл бұрын
I live in the US and you hit the nail right on the head. So much emotion and feelings of self-worth are invested into the college admissions process, and it leaves a lot of people feeling "inadequate" if they don't get into a top school. But that's sadly just how our society is. And that's just undergrad; medical school is a whole different beast to get into and I am not looking forward to that application process!
@EmilyClaireDaly4 жыл бұрын
Wow! Many successful startups and people in Australia didn’t attend university. It’s valued, but certainly not the be all/end all. In saying that, I want to go on a uni exchange to the states when we can travel again just to experience the culture.
@lit7214 жыл бұрын
Emily Daly all extremely successful CEOs in america have all dropped out or not attended college at all. people on here claim life in america is “shaped” by your college but it’s not even close. being “shaped” by your college is something that exists in South Korea. your entire pay, house, spouse, and life is laid out to you based on if you get into a top university. americans don’t realize how privledged they are. you can still gladly be sucesssful without a degree (college enrollment is decreasing for the 7th year in america btw so). and if anyone doesn’t believe this, they are in a very tight bubble of uptight kids that believe they need to get into an Ivy to be successful lol.
@JL-jh6zn4 жыл бұрын
@@lit721 people in america look down on you if you haven't attended college and many places won't hire you if you don't have a college degree so actually i'd say there is still a lot of pressure to attend college

To people who’re saying that she isn’t fit for the interview because she had been in London for her first semester - the study abroad program is still part of Northeastern University. Yes she may not be the best person to ask about the Northeastern campus itself, but she is definitely qualified to speak about the university

I graduated from Northeastern in the College of Engineering almost 20 years ago and I just finished paying off my student loans last year! The best thing about campus is that you make a lot of friends. The con is that you get very little support from faculty with challenging classes in the STEM field. Finding a job easily after graduating is NOT true and the school doesn't help with job placement after graduation. It took 3 years for me to find a job and I had to change fields unrelated to my major. However I love my new field and am very successful. What they don't teach you is that if you have a talent for something the career will find you, so expensive and elite schools don't contribute 100% to your success. I have an interesting story of how I was broke after college to now making $200K/year as an engineer- and it had nothing to do with school!
