Hi! I'm in the Boston NUin 2020 program and super excited to start. Thank you for this video :) This year is definitely crazy. Only Ireland and Boston are left. I believe NUin also accounts for students that have scores and GPAs they want to leave out to have higher percentages and move the school up the ranks. This year we'll be living in the Westin Hotel. There are 1000 students in Boston and a few hundred in Ireland, I believe.

Thank you so much for this video! I'm a senior in highschool and I fell in love with NU. However, I'm a prospective CSSH student (political science and criminal justice or political science and international affairs), and I come from a tiny town where we don't have many AP classes available, or many huge opportunities to put on college apps. There are 7 APs offered at my school and I will have taken 4 of them by the time I graduate. I got 5s on both the ones I have already taken. I am class president, in NHS, Student Council, and leader of two other clubs. I'm not submitting my SAT scores because they aren't very good, and my school doesn't do GPA or rankings (we are proficiency based), but I would be at the top of my class with the equivalent of something over a 4.0. I volunteer and have work experience. My essay is pretty good and I'm going to apply ED in November so I still have some time to perfect it, but do you think Humanities majors would have an easier time getting into NU than STEM/Business majors? I know my stats aren't the best but I really really want to go to NU. I also don't mind as much if the programs for humanities aren't as funded, I looked at the coop posters for political science + criminal justice and I was almost foaming at the mouth because I want to go here so badly. Sorry for the excessively long comment, but your video was so informative and wanted to see if you could answer my question :)

Thank you so much for posting this informative video. Would you kindly share your thought on whether COOP will be beneficial, neutral, or disadvantageous for students who plan to pursue M.S. degree instead of job market upon graduation?
@susanaa.66924 жыл бұрын
I don't really like the atmosphere at NEU and there are other schools that I would rather go to, but because of the costs, I choose to go to NEU since they offered me huge grant money that's equivalent to $60,000. Also, the co-op programs seemed really appealing too. Who doesn't want to earn some money while in college? But then again, the perspective of graduating in 5 years kind of scared me. I would do everything I can to graduate in 4 years. I have a question for you: how do people manage to pack co-ops, study abroad, classes, and federal work-study all in 4 years. You only have 8 semesters after all. And if my grant pays only for my classes, then if I do 2 semesters of classes (freshman year), and 2 co-ops (one in the spring of the sophomore year, and one in the spring of junior year). This only left me with my senior year to do study abroad. This means that I will probably have to make up for the classes that I missed while I'm on co-ops during the summer, otherwise, I won't be able to graduate on time. So this means that you can pick only one over the other. I'm a freshman this year, and with everything being shut down by COVID this year, I'm worried if it's even worth it to spend my entire undergraduate here at Northeastern.
@TiffanyElizabeth4 жыл бұрын
hi! in general, it's very common to take summer classes at neu to graduate on time. since students usually don't take classes while on co-op, the main way to make up for this is to take classes over the summer unless you were able to come into neu with lots of AP credit. You could do a study abroad during one of your class semesters during your second or third year here or you can try a study abroad during the summer - there are lots of programs if you look at the neu global experience websites! hope this helps
