I have to say you built a great rock trailer my Friend. When I see the prices of store bought junk, it makes me want to build my own stuff for 1/3 the cost and twice as strong. If you by the tools to make your own equipment, and hone your skills using it, you will save lots of money in the long run.

Heath, this is your most inspiring video Ive watched. I, too, work and have worked for 50 years, primarily by myself, on all my projects. Learning to weld in high school, I've built many projects and vehicles and continue to do do. I just built my 24x32x12 dream workshop, mostly by myself, like you and am setting it up to do most any project. Your words really hit home and continue to inspire and encourage me when I feel a little overwhelmed. Thank you!

NICE piece of equipment you have there - well done. That mesh looks like it came from a rock crush quarry classifier and where there is one of those there also may be some old conveyor belt. If you can get hold of some of that old conveyor belt for the right price ( for example, FREE ) then you can glue and rivet together a removable liner for the trailer so that you can load materials like building sand, concrete stone etc if you need to get something like that "up the hill" for some or other future project. Surely somewhere in the back of your mind there is some sort of idea floating around for, I don't know, some rental guest cabins? Maybe one of your kids are interested in a career in the hospitality industry?

Heath.. regarding your welding, when mig welding you push the weld at about 75 degree angle and watch the lead puddle. Stick welding you pull and watch the trail of the melted puddle. Might help to change to this technique.

Heath the mesh screen you have can be a problem under dynamic loading and can crack keep an eye on it . I worked around a tromel in the Yukon in 87 . It was all screen and it was constantly cracking where it was originally welded . Every other day on a 24hr working program it had to be rewelded stopping production . keep an eye out for real floor grating in the junk yard it is real expensive new. your trailer should easily hold 5 tons . As a welder by trade knowing how to weld does free you up to build lots of different things cutting costs

I have owned several two-axle trailers. They will go right on down the road for miles if they ever get unhitched on the highway. I had electric brakes and a small battery set up with a break-away switch, as is required on the road. Watching you roll that cool rock trailer around as you park it etc. makes me wonder if it might make sense to come up with some sort of brake system, in the case of a strickly off-road rig like yours, I sure am not suggesting battery and electric brakes, but how about starting with a simple block of wood or two, cut to fit between the tires? Or weld up something similar. You are one creative guy, I'm sure you can figure it out.

Nice Trailer Heath!!! That should be well enough made to carry two Brahma Bulls on it without collapsing! 😂 I’d say the tires will pop & give away from being over loaded with weight, long before that trailer ever collapses from not being made solid!!! Because it’s definitely well built. Like we all say with a secured load after Putting on ratchet straps, I say the same thing about that trailer: THAT THING AIN’T GOING NOWHERE! 😂🤣
@CCRider53126 ай бұрын
The only 2 things I suggest on finishing that trailer : #1 I’d build me a tubular hinge with a steel rod thru it to be Able to hinge the tailgate to drop down the tailgate when I had a load in it. With a load inside pushing against that tailgate you’re not going to be able to pull that tailgate straight up and out with a load on it ! Now if it had a tubular hinge along the bottom and a tubular slid lock on each side of the tail gate .... Then If it’s loaded it will be easy to slid the tubular safety lock on each side and just swing the tailgate down to the ground to get the load out of it. #2 Is welding all the pipe holes 🕳 closed. This will keep rain or water 💦 from getting in the pipes and rusting it out. Also keep bees 🐝 from getting in those pipes and building nests as well as keeping mud and dirt from getting into the pipes which will Also contribute to rusting the pipes from the inside. But other than those two things that’s all I’d change.

So, how is damaging your eyes by welding without a mask going to contribute to your quality of life? Is this one of those mistakes you were referring to? Other people watching your vlogs might decide they don’t need to protect their eyes, either, so your casual attitude is not just going to affect you and your family, but its ripple effect makes your carelessness even worse.
