Further uncertainty has been cast over the future of the yet-to-be-certified Boeing 737 MAX 7- the smallest variant of the US manufacturer's next-generation narrowbody series. This comes after Boeing's withdrawal of a safety exemption request. This request would have expedited the variant’s certification.
Why would Boeing do this, and what does it mean for airlines?

The real insanity is the -8 and -9 having certification. Neither should ever have received that.

I suspect that Boeing already has the fix for the deicing system, so they will install them in the Max 7. That means they will also start rolling out the fix for the other variants too, which will probably delay the certification of the Max 10, not the 7.

the exemption should never have been granted, another example of political pressure, along with the new c9ckpit warning regulations for max 7 and 10...Theyy should not be type rated until 8 and 9s conform and are updated to new regs regarding safety notifications in the cockpit, and 7 and 10s should follow suit..
