So why is the water in the toilet not safe to drink yet we gladly make coffee from the potable tank? Is it assumed that boiling will kill any listeria etc.? I thought water had to be over 65C for a prolonged amount of time before unsafe water would be considered safe to drink.

This reminds me of the MythBusters episode where they tackled the “blue ice” myth in a wind tunnel. They proved that a leaky toilet tank can cause blue ice to form and break off the plane.

Thanks for the explanations! 200 liters is quite small - only a bit more than water tank in my RV trailer (40gal=152l) … The amount of water used per flush or sink use must be restricted somehow, probably flow restriction.

Im quite sure the flow and usage of water is just as optimized as the usage of fuel 😄

I found that a bit surprising too. Very small amount for the number of people involved. Especially when it's used to make tea and coffee in addition to toilet purposes.

According to an airbus operator - each flush is about 2 liters, causing 2.5 or 3 litres of waste depending on the waste. Apparently a full, late afternoon 1 hour flight may use about 50 litres and add 70 litres of waste. These are just estimated figures. This operator does a super full ~6 hour flight to DPS on an A321NEO and Water turns to about 10% and waste is about 90% after the flight.

Great work, as are all your videos! I think we need a feature in Fenix that you can roll a toilet paper down the aisle, stick in in the toilet and let that vacuum do it's work. 😂 Used to do cabin cleaning for 7 years, and we tried this few times. If I remember correctly, the cycle was not long enough so for full roll you needed two flushes. Did that as a test after maintenance or vacuum pump replacement.

Well technically all waste from the toilet bowl ends up in the toilet tank. So unless someone is peeing into the sink …
