Feels like many devs are just rushing an unfinished product with msfs. Makes you realize how much effort has been put by PMDG or Fenix (or other good payware teams) and grateful for the time they have put to make it an enjoyable product and not a cashgrab like certain other addons released well before they were complete. (not only talking about Gsx)

I had an issue with one of their airports, that i dwleted by mistake. Based on the emailnof confirmation i got at the purchase, i tried to re-download it, but no more active link. So i contacted Umberto, and he amswered on a very rude tone, that it was my own fault, and it was just lost. I should have paid extra fees as "insurrance" at the purchase time. Why on the marketplace as well as simmarket, is it possible to retrieve any former purchased product..for FREE, and not with FSDT?! Greed and rudeness are a very very very bad combo imo

Just remember, from previous flightsim experience, it is NEVER the fault, reason, or problem with FSDT. It is ALWAYS something or someone else that causes a problem.

I've been within this hobby for MANY years by now and unfortunately what you say has always been true for this developer. I remember in the past when I was reporting issues and how I 9 out of 10 times got answers back similar to what you say above. How it certainly isn't a fault within this developer's software but somewhere else. Too bad this clearly is still the case with GSX, an addon I was truly looking forward to buy and enjoy 😒

The joke here is they’ve been working on this for over two years. Forget all the issues it has with functionality itself, most folks like myself can’t even get the thing to install and work correctly. As an avid user of the addon in FSX and P3d I was hopeful for the level of immersion it would bring to this sim. This was just pure lazy architecture and development and straight up ill regard for their customer base, but if you’ve been around long you know that’s how FSDTeam operates. It’s never their product that has the issue but rather the fault of the end user.

I agree. As many others mentioned here, your honesty is greatly appreciated. One of the first things I noticed when trying GSX Pro for the first time (besides some animation bugs and a heavy take on performance!), is that there is no dynamic sound at all. You can test this by taking your drone camera in the sim, listening to the sound of the ground handling vehicles, and flying anywhere. The sound of ground handling stays exactly the same, non-dynamic and non-spatial either, whilst you are kilometers away from the plane in a forest. Considering all the things mentioned in this video, there really is a whole lot of improvement to be made on this program. I really regret now to not have waited some time until buying this product and instead blindly trusting its history and advertisements.

I never liked GSX. In P3D it was the top reason for CTDs and in half the times it did not work at the gates. I switched to Ultimate Ground Crew. I don‘t need all this passenger movement. Seeing this I am glad I did not waste my money on it. Thanks for this honest review!

Mixed feelings here. In P3D it was a necessity as it adds to the immersion and it worked pretty good, at least in my opinion. Yes, we saw a catering truck bumping into another one or something, but overall it was quite nice). So I was super hyped for GSX in MSFS2020 but it only gave me headaches including the jetway stuff etc. Let's give it some time...

Gah!!! If this was out a few hours earlier I wouldn’t have bought it. But I did. It looks great, but it’s just the small things that irritate me (lorries going through winglets, no passengers showing up, pushback operators turning invincible etc). I think that GSX has huge potential to be a must-have, fantastic mod. But at the moment, it feels like it’s still in testing. Hope I didn’t waste my money and hope there’s a good update soon!

Thank you for the honest review! There are installation problems as well. Many customers, including myself, could not get GSX to work. After launching a flight GSX just stated "COUATL script engine not starting" and that's it. The GSX icon in the tool bar is there, but clicking it does nothing. According to Umberto in the FSDT forums, there are issues with updated files in the cloud cache servers they are using (CloudFlare). Some files are updated, some not and this incoherent state leads to errors in the execution of the Python-based scripts that drive GSX. This is a regional problem, since cloud systems like CloudFlare have servers all-over the world with multiple peerings to all kind of ISPs. But no one can say, which servers have the correct state and even if we'd know, it's not possible for the typical user to enforce the usage of those servers. (it's possible via a VPN service, but this would cost extra money) To be completly honest, that's not acceptable. I'm a senior software engineer and experienced with such caching problems. The solution of FSDT just to update the existing files is flawed. If the files have the same name as the outdated ones, services like CloudFlare can't guarantee a correct deployment on all servers in a short time period. It's over a day after the release and the files are still not updated on many servers. The same problem exists with assets (scripts, styles, images etc.) on websites, not only if they are deployed on cloud systems, the local browser caches can behave that way as well. That's why we use unique file names for each deployment of new versions (it's all automated via the build systems. Would be insane to do this manually.). That way cloud-based caches and browsers are forced to get the new files. If they won't implement a solution like this, every update could possibly destroy the GSX installation.

Hmm, maybe my conclusion was not correct. According to the newest posts on the FSDT forums, the customers with this specific problems are also P3D users with GSX. After completly uninstalling both GSX versions and manually deleteing the AddonManager directory and re-installing MSFS GSX everything works. But as soon as the P3D version of GSX is installed, the Python scripts will crash.

Yep, I got super excited and then saw some reviews, all of which had bugs… I thought “ah heck it still looks cool, I’ll give it a go”. Nothing but bugs at my favourite and most frequently used airports. Your comments about the procedural errors may seem petty to some, but THIS IS what we are paying for!! GSX should be accurate as possible. And I totally agree, the crew and passengers arriving at the same time is irritating. “Parking is too small” alerts constantly, services driving through each and my aircraft other all the time, stuff just not working… Hope they can actually fix it and it’s not a “sim limitation” that we have to wait for asobo to fix, and that FSDT just couldn’t be bothered to tell everyone or wait for… Stupid me for jumping too early. £30 is not cheap these days given the way the world is!

I’m so glad you posted the vids on GSX. Mine crashed today trying to fly out of KLAS. My problems include: Baggage loading on an A321. It sends out a Cargo Container loader, and 2 baggage loaders. One baggage loader loads bags into the cockpit. Doors on the aircraft don’t open even when I command them to open. After doing all of the ground stuff (which takes almost an hour) I try to actually go flying. (Occurs before the crashing) I continue to get ground messages WHILE IN FLIGHT‼️ Bottom line, I’m unloading it as well, but because I purchased it, I’ll come back in a couple months and re-install it. Maybe by then they would have fixed their bugs😁

You´re the man, my friend! I really love GSX in P3D, but it is not ready for prime time yet. At least one streamer who still is giving his honest opinion even though receiving a free copy. However, I still think it WILL BE good in a few weeks... until then I also would suggest to wait. By the way, 5 CTD in the Fenix (officially supported) within 60 minutes. No CTD in weeks before. After removal, same flight, everything is fine. That´s bugging me more than the baggage loading clones (could at least gave him another haircut or face to not make it that obvious...), the clipping issues (more fun than serious to me), however, passsengers moving through thin air because jetway has been disconnected again in the meantime, or walking beside the jetway, that´s immersion killing... still, the CTD are the worst. Well, have not given up on it, but Umberto needs to seriously put some more work into it. sorry. WHEN it will be working as in P3D, then it will surely become the same must have addon as it is in P3D. Until then.... wait.

I loved it at the time but it had it's flaws. I was genuinely surprised that it still has the same flaws and manages to even look outdated despite being in development for the last two years! This is not a new MSFS addon, it's just a ported fsx one.

Definitely not a perfect release but personally I have not had a single CTD whilst using this. I did expect some bugs with animations and the like but on the whole it works and provides so much immersion. Having said that I am looking forward to updates to make this better. Also great to see GSX config files going up for a number of airports.

I have shown some interest in this however being new to simming I waited to see more. From what I've seen I don't think its worth it as of yet. For one I buy most of my airports through the market place as cba with 1 million installers for different airports ( I know its not like this but you get the point) i'm only getting external installers for planes I really want like the 737 etc. Secondly I watched a streamer today and not only did the install of the mod not work but the install broke their P3D version of the mod. As you said it seems like another thing released too early and I predict an update will come the same time as the next sim update. I'll keep my eye on this addon for sure but for now and probably the near future (next year or so) I'll pass. Thanks for the videos man really helpful learning all this Flight sim stuff.

Since this was using a third party airport, are the visual problems (I.e. Walking outside the jetway) still there with the first party airports? I only have one third party airport, so being more stable with first party would be ok for my uses. The other problems like excessive times (I'm probably too wrapped up figuring out other things to notice), tug steering, and walking in front of the airplane are issues I could put up with... Assuming I notice them at all. I'm also curious if problems exist with smaller GA aircraft services, which is what I primarily fly right now.

Thanks for your video. It's most interesting listening to your analysis, then reading the comments that followed. What does stand out for me is that developers who create and sell products for, say, 30-50E/US or higher, no matter what area of expertise they are in, must meet high quality standards and customer satisfaction levels; otherwise they are taking money for inferior products. In the current case, I too think GSX has enormous potential, but thorough testing, and quality assurance processes must govern release to the public. Some developers are outstanding in this area - many are not.....Let's hope for continual improvement..

Sadly agree with you. The jetway just is stuck and never moves on my end. Also keeps saying I have an update and won’t update. I have yet to see it actually do what I tell it to do properly and also i have had a series of FPS hits and CTD as well. Furthermore, maybe it is just me but on the “support” forum the developer seems pompous and unwilling to assist and blames the user every time.

Great review, I will say that I didnt have any trouble with my first attempt granted I've only had one flight. .....In my opinion, some actions in the sim we must remember is taking place simultaneously at the same time IRL. For instance the pushback is usually connected before the boarding and loading is completed. IRL the push backtug must cross the non movement line before the wing walker can clear the plane. Now for the animation issues I totally agree with you. Again I saw your issues but I myself did not have any issues.

Hello Emanuel and thanks for the video and for your honesty which is really important. for me, Its interesting that the baggage loader can bend his body and move his arms during the loading/unloading process - but the signal lady cannot bend, having to walk right through the skin of the jet; And the locking pin flies up out of her hand because her arm cannot, it seems, be animated! And usually, the signal person always moves away from the aircraft on the stand side of the taxiway, NOT on the manoeuvring area side - unless there is a very good reason why not. I have sat through hundreds of pushbacks during my real life career to know how it is supposed to work. And as I have said elsewhere, the signal person has a headset connected to the box on the front of the nosewheel by a long cable which is pretty much always held in the hand as the jet moves back. Are we supposed to believe that this is WiFi? Also, note that the pushback tug when reversing into position to move forward to hook to the nosewheel - the tug wheels are facing the wrong way! As for the marshaller escorting us into the parking stand after landing, I remember that we used to wait in the taxiway for the car to arrive and turn around - not continue taxi-ing. We only taxi when the car is ready in front of us. And of course, there are many more little issues that you and others have spotted too. I will say, in FSDT's defense, that their GSX addon for FSX and P3D worked pretty well - for me at least. Yes, there were issues, but often when flying online and having spent ages preparing your flight plan and takeoff data and pre-flighting the aircraft (remember that in the Simulator, we don't get a Dispatcher or an FO - we do everything ourselves!), you often don't have time to run the full aircraft side service routine. But the basics, like baggage loading and the fuelling all worked quite well in P3D. And I especially loved to see the passengers getting onto and off the aircraft and the bus! But it would seem that there are issues with the MSFS version and it's certainly wrong to release the product with these issues - which have resulted in something of a backlash against FSDT; Which is a pity since they are a well known and trusted developer with some great scenery products which I have bought myself over the years. I fully understand your frustrations and why you have removed it. As I have said previously, I will wait for the issues to be resolved and when they are, I WILL mostly likely buy it because it looks so much better than the default (which is not bad by the way!) and think of the videos that can be made with this! MSFS2020 brings more realistic features here and Devs need to carefully look where they can take full advantage of that; They need to talk to MS/Asobo about getting access to Marketplace airports and I really hope they manage to sort out the issues, because this is a product that many of us know and love. But I believe a reputation needs to be restored here - and it will take work from the Team at FSDT to re-acquire that reputation. Thanks again and all the best - Lee (VirtualAirlinePilot.Org)

Thank you for being honest with this add on . I was just about to buy it. (Lol) Most of things about MSFS 2020 has just been a bunch of broken promise and smoke. It doesn't look like much has changed from previous builds of GSX. Love your Vids .

A visually appealling product for sure! The job of programming it for MSFS cannot be easy, and integrating it with all of the add on aircraft and scenery packs had to be a Herculean task. I respect Umberto for trying, and for dealing directly with his users on his forums. That alone blows my mind, can't imagine doing that AND trying to improve/debug his products as well. Yes, he has some issues vis-a-vis customer care interaction, but I think this product has a lot of potential, as others have said, and when it works, it definitely adds to immersion.

Yes. This is really 90s style. I mean the idea of MSFS is that all add-ons are cleanly programmed and use their API. If each add-on comes with its own scripting enginge, things will get out of control

Thanks for the review. I’m not sure why I have to run script file called Coualt before launching MSFS. Surprised it wouldn’t connect through SimConnect of FSUIP7? What else was weird was when I loaded a 747-8 in a Heavy rated gate, it said that the gate was too small for my aircraft. I had to go and edit the gate to increase circle size for it to accept the aircraft. Will I have to do this for every gate? mmmmmm…… Still a lot of work to be done. I don’t want to spend hours configuring every gate a start at.

I agree! Users and I also really want to see the integration of Fenix and GSX as it was with FSL. Also, did they change anything at all after they released the beta? After all the negative criticism, FSDT needs to keep working on it and fix some things.

I did the same after 3 ctds. So went to X-Plane and compared SAM to others I wad flying with. SAM was quicker and neater. Plus the follow me car was well behaved. So for me I will wait for updates to iron out a couple of bugs for me, before gsx gets installed again.

Me too, after not being able to display the GSX menu I started my XP and made a 4 hour flight with absolutely no problems. MSFS has the general problem that it is buggy and add-ons are low quality cash-grabs

Same issue here, 2nd attempt to fly from EIDW to ELLX with PMDG 737-700, again after 1.5 hours sudden CTD. Yesterday after 2 hours. Both flights ended with CTD and I did not install anything else after installing GSX. No CTD before installing GSX since 10 months. I requested a refund, hopefully this will work. Maybe in the future I will give this program another try, because the idea is great.

I have GSX for P3D, and enjoyed it, despite it's flaws. When this GSX Pro for FS2020 released I decided to hold off and see what experienced other simmers were reporting. Of course I understand that any new add-on has to go through it's teething fase. But I agree that this one should not have been released in the current status. I will hold off and keep following the development, hoping that it will get to a status where it actually can be enjoyed. Thank you for your honest review

This is very nitpicky. Its only been out for what? 2 days? A lot of what seems unusual in this video is either glitches that will be fixed, or issues due to lack of optimization by the scenery dev. Scenery devs have always updated their airports to properly support GSX in the past, and I have no doubt that they will do the same this time. This will address issues like the catering trucks running into the plane. Sure, review a product for what it is. But take into consideration that almost no piece of software is launched perfect, and developers should be given credit for providing regular updates to fix issues. PMDG as an example released the -700 for MSFS with issues that would be considered deal-breakers, like issues with the rudder and the lack of an EFB. MSFS as a platform is another example, its a platform that is still in the process of maturing TWO YEARS after release. Are you calling it a flop too? Are you uninstalling MSFS? This is why its so important to use a product for a prolonged period of time before reviewing it. To call it a flop on the second day of release? lol. Give the devs a chance to fix the day 1 issues. Wait a week or two. Right now it seems like you are rushing to review it just to get clicks.

Have you watched the video to end end? As I said in the video: All those bugs are "acceptable" provided they get updated. That my sim however crashed to desktop on 5 our of 6 flights is not acceptable and this led me to the decision to uninstall". Normally I'd be with you that nee Addons simply need their time to grow and bugs can of course he expected. Heck, I put ten new bugs PMDGs bugtracker over the last two days. BUT if the product causes so many crashes to desktop that I am not able to use the sim anymore AT ALL then that's a red line. How shall I wait and give it a few weeks if I'm not able to complete a single flight in that day? Surely you'll agree that that's a problem which needs an IMMEDIATE solution, right?

@@A330Driver Have you considered that not everyone is facing CTDs? I for one am not, and there only a handful of complaints on their forum complaining about CTDs, mostly at very specific airports. Yet here you are telling an entire audience to avoid this product because you have CTDs. And judging by the comments here, that effect is clear. For you, especially since you are part of a beta team at PMDG, I would have expected you to be more understanding of day 1 bugs, and to encourage patience. You even said at the end of the video that you will be doing a review once its stable on your system. So what was the purpose of this video? You basically just reviewed it. You rushed to release this video for clicks. I expected better from you. What I will agree with you is that they need to do a better job with their product descriptions and be more specific as to what works, what doesn't, and what relies on third party developer input.

@@sergey79 That isn't true. The same way it's not true to say that the PMDG 737 for MSFS has been in development for years yet its only a port from an old tech sim. Yes, some assets have been reused, but a lot of work goes into mitigating SDK limitations.

I bought GSX yesterday and I am not too happy with it and now even more after seeing your honest thoughts today..too late for me. I would have waited. I was going to buy it right before I stumbled upon your video. I don't mind some procedural thing are not quite right as there is no other app which would bring that level of immersion. But CTD are really the dealbraker. MSFS is brittle as it is, no need to add to the instability of the sim. Thank you for saving me some money.

You're lucky you didn't get an answer from Umberto, I sent him an email to try to get my programme to actually download, he said "Of course it's the servers, haven't you seen the KZbin videos?" quite a lovely response. Someone else sent him an email and he said "let me lower myself down to your brain level" he's awful
