if you didn’t want to have gsx replace jetways on a 3rd part airport, you should have used the gsx config panel in the installer, there’s a button for that.

Thanks Umberto. What surprised me is that at other airports there were no jetways placed, only at EDDK. In previous GSX iterations it never placed jetways automatically at addon airports. Why did you program it this way round? Normally it would make more sense to place jetways only at addon airports if the user specifically wants those, not by default, right? On default airports it's of course useful the other way round as you've done. By the way, I've pinned your comments for users to see that this is my fault by not setting GSX up properly.

​@@A330Driver Jetway replacement in MSFS is done in a completely different way than P3D, it's not done programmatically (with SODE), but by a set of about 900 small .BGL files which only contains replacement jetways and nothing else. What decides if a jetway gets replaced, is the presence/absence of that file in the GSX Jetways package. That's where there's a Config panel option in the FSDT Installer, with an "Exclude 3rd party" button, which will find all your 3rd party airports and suggest them as candidates for being preserved from jetway replacement. Or, you can just add individual ICAO codes there. In addition to that, I think most of the glitches you had in the video, such as having passengers with Stairs on a parking with Jetway, are related to the fact you are likely using a Marketplace version of Kokn airport, which GSX cannot read because it's encrypted, so GSX was likely using data from default Koln, which not matching parking spots locations and names, so it couldn't know that gate in fact had a jetway, likely because the gate position in the add-on airport changed, but GSX couldn't read it because of the encrypted file. We discussed this in the manual, but we updated it again today, to add an extra page (last page of the manual), explaining the issue even better. The best solution right now, is to ask the scenery developer to provide you with an unencrypted version of the airport file *only*, to be placed in the GSX custom profiles folder to be used by GSX, we are already doing this for all our airports, so even users that bought them on the Marketplace can use them without doing anything. In the mid-term, once the new Facility API in the SDK goes out of beta, we'll look integrating it in GSX, because it's supposed to give us access to airport data without having to open the airport file, so it should work with encrypted airports as well. Also, I see you got a bit of confusion in the refueling: when the airplane is flagged as using a custom fuel system (like the PMDG is), after you see the message "Please use the aircraft fuel system", you are supposed to enter the fuel quantity in the FMC, but after that you cannot change your mind and, particularly, set a quantity lower than when you were asked that question, otherwise GSX will think you have more fuel that what you requested, resulting the Fuel to go away as soon as it gets there ( If you were in the US, the Fuel guys would probably insult you for having called them for no reason, and if you were in Switzerland, they won't insult you, but would charged you 1000 CHF instead ). You can try doing an *actual* refueling with the PMDG, just enable the flag that says "Use Fuel/Cargo panel" in the Airplane configuration page, which will let GSX treat the PMDG like a default airplane, as far as Refueling is concerned. I must say we didn't had much time to try if this is safe or not, but it's worth trying.

Been regrouping with GSX. Ive been a bit outspoken about my frustration with it. So this weekend I watched more videos, read a portion of the manual, and spent some time setting up some gates. While I dont like the amount of time it takes to set up each gate, at each airport, for each plane we choose, it DID work fairly smoothly once setup. You have to setup the parking area at the gate, setup the plane itself, and setup pushback. Its a lot to do.

This is amazing. GSX will take MSFS to a new level of immersion. XP 12 needs GSX badly, but it doesn't have anything like GSX (pushback isn't enough, GSX does so much more than pushback). I think this is why MSFS will leave XP 12 in the dust. The level of immersion with MSFS is just so good, especially with GSX for MSFS now.

Having never used XP myself but have followed the debated battle between XP and P3D for years, I think that unless XP can offer the now "basic" things that people are capable of having with P3D and MSFS, I just don't see how it'll still be one of the front runners in the future. Also, AFAIK, Austin is the sole guy running that show whereas MSFS has Microsoft/Asobo and P3D has Lockheed. This coming from a lonely FSX user.

@@davidfrank5227 I agree. I think XP, even XP 12, is going to keep falling behind MSFS. Reminds me of when IPhone was released. MSFS is IPhone and XP is Blackberry. Blackberry was always trying to play catchup with IPhone, but it didn't catch up in the end.

I can tell you at my airline (United states airline Anything I say not representative of my airline) we give the bypass pin notification on the capt side no matter what. Now I must ask in Europe does a separate company do all pushes normally? Like separate from the rampers? But over all this version of GSX looks great yes could use some polish but I do not think it needs too much. Overall your review makes me want to buy as soon as possible

Just installed GSX Pro myself. I was able to get the passenger load and pushback to work but not the ground power. I would request it and it shows up but doesn't connect. I end up requesting through the FMC and PMDG's power unit shows up too and connects while GSX just sits there. Any suggestions?

Missed opportunity for a Deicing/Anti icing process. Not to remove modeled icing (I can appreciate those complexities) but having trucks arrive, spray and depart with communications would add alot of immersion. This is a huge part of daily operations in certain portions of the globe during long periods of the year. I would argue more deicing happens then aircraft using a follow me vehicle. Hopefully deicing is included and that we just havent seen it yet.

Hey.. I have to ask.. in North America; 99.7% of the time when boarding anything larger than a CRJ we always seem to board by Jetbridge.. GSX by default uses air stairs and buses.. is this very common in Europe and the rest of the world?

I feel like the wing walkers are way too quick. IRL most simply meander along side and often become positioned to the front side of the nose by the time push is completed. Another immersion option would be to have a randomized one where they stick with the wing and then end up walking back to the front and side of the tug after pushback or as above, end up having the plane out push them and they end up parallel to the tug. I have no idea how the coding would work on that, but just an observation.

yep, certainly happens! Had it in real life a few times as well. You look at the N2 gauge and nothing happens. And eventually you'll be like "ah, damn it. Now explain the ramp agent why nothing happened for half a minute since you announced engine startup".

I am guessing you can't use the GSX ground power? The progressive fueling may not work with the PMDG stuff since it has its own ground services rather than calling the default stuff perhaps? So it would work with the FBW, but not the PMDG. The Jetway does go back automatically, in a different video I saw.

Pax, fuel and cargo loading are just visual right? GSX doesn’t add any weight to the aircraft, still have to load aircraft in the EFB for Fenix and MCDU for PMDG?

They take the loading that you have done in your aircraft into account when determining how many visual passengers to board, etc. But they don't set the numbers inside the plane. With default aircraft that do not use a custom fuel system it's different, in those GSX can actually refuel them.

Thanks for the great video Emmanuel. I have used GSX in FSX and the GSX II Expansion in P3D. This is a welcome development, but there are still issues with it. In one of my review videos, I do mention that I cannot understand why Asobo place the aircraft tug at an angle - this causes animated jetways to actually drive right through the tug! The GSX Pro tug would be better being placed directly ahead of the aircraft. And in my long career years at both Heathrow and Gatwick, passengers would not be allowed to board until fuelling has been completed for safety reasons. That said, I see issues with ground staff passing right into the aircraft skin (inserting and removing the pin), jetways sunk into the ground. and vehicles going through winglets and even other vehicles, so this really needs work. In the other versions of GSX, I believe I am right in saying that "scripts" were written specific to each airport scenery in P3D so that the services offered by GSX could be tailored to each airport (default or add-on). I'm hoping that the same method will be used in this version. Yes, it will take time for FSDreamTeam developers to create tailored services to various sceneries, but it will hopefully allow many of these issues to be avoided. In pretty much all airports, the world over, the aircraft stand is of a fixed area form (with the exception of stands for the A380) and so this measurement should be wat is used to first plan ground services in MSFS2020. Perhaps my last but most important hope is that GSX Pro will allow removal of all Asobo or in this case PMDG ground services (with the option to restore to previous state) so that there is no conflict when using GSX Pro. Just my thoughts. And I have subscribed. Lee

Fueling and Boarding at the same time is standard in my airline so that's definitely realistic to have the option to do so. Regarding the tug placed at an angle, I am sure that Umberto wants users to create config files for each airport (which I am sure will happen quickly) where the default position of all objects would be defined. That would solve the problem by itself. I have to agree it would be best to have the tug positioned outside of the jetways path by default however. Thanks for the subscription! Cheers, Emanuel

@@A330Driver I understand about boarding and refuelling. But it did take a long time before it was permitted by Airlines and airports. In my time it was a no-no, but I agree with you. I really hope that Umberto DOES let people create config files as was the case in P3D - it would really help the realism. And that being the case, the final product really needs to be able to fully disable the Asobo/Microsoft default service fleet so that there are no conflicts. I really enjoyed the P3D and FSX versions. Looking forward to this version taking FULL advantage of the the capabilities of MSFS2020! Always enjoy your videos. Tschuss, bis nachsten mal! Lee

According to my understanding from the description in the manual and the marketplace the Pro version has to rely on an external exe file which is not allowed to Marketplace addons. So it won't come to maketplace. I might be wrong though.

How come/why is the overwing emergency exit open?? It's not even possible, normally these doors are not fixed with hatches. They are totally removable normally. (Speaking as a former 737 cabim attendant)

Pretty sure it was GSX opening it. I'm guessing the GSX profile for the -700 is based on the keyboard layout of the DOORS page of the -800 and GSX probably has some fixed key programmings to operate the doors. It then presses the keys where it "thinks" that the 1L and 2L doors are, but in the 700 the layout is probably different and thus it opens the overwing exit instead. Just a guess though.

With the Fuel input; you definitely added the fuel quantity in the wrong place. You already know how the payload page works (11:40), and I'm unsure how you though the GSX mod would somehow change that.

12:00 I think here if you'd entered fuel amount in the Ground Services menu it would've taken time. The menu you were in was instant load. 25:45 Or not. Something looks buggy. Okay, after finishing the video I think it's definitely worthwhile. Probably needs some aircraft-specific customization for equipment positioning. Not to mention all those extra jetways it added. Hopefully those can be toggled off or tweaked somehow.

I wish the ground crew voices were more natural sounding and not like they're carefully reading a script and enunciating every word. For immersion sake, it would be much more realistic if the rampers spoke more rapidly and casually. I get that the developers need to find a balance so the user can understand what they're saying, especially since this is internationally used. But ultimately, just like in real life, the rampers say the same lines the same way every time, so once you've heard it one time, you don't really need to "understand" it every other time, you just need to hear it.

Is it just me or does this seem more buggy than usefull at its current state to anyone else as well? I mean, don‘t get me wrong; I am more than eager to finally have GSX in my sim, however, I rather wait a month longer and get a less buggier version. The jetway not removing, the buggy fuel truck, the menu not opening when clicking on it in the toolbar and many more encountered in this preview would just annoy the crap out of me after a few flights… I do appreciate the new animations and models but for me, as aforementioned, way too buggy at its current state.
