The COWS DA40 is not just a superb VFR Trainer and touring airplane, but also an excellent IFR machine. Let's check it out on a full VATSIM flight from Lübeck to Hamburg. Thank you very much @COWS for providing me a preview copy of the DA40 to show it to you guys!

Almost a bit shaky to have the G1000's powered up without the engine on for those 3 minutes :). In real life the battery of the 40 isn't really big at all, I usually power it up, immediately asks for startup, avionics off, engine start, then avionics on agian and after that I start touching the G1000. (ofc I check all the values before the engine start)

Great video! I’m currently training on the DA40 (VFR, not IFR) and some of your advice is really helpful, especially in terms of flow. Keep up the good work!

I assigned the three power control settings to the left three levers on my Bravo. The rest is pretty much default. No changes to any sensitivities done.

Hi, I'm waiting for iniBuilds to update the plane to include all those features we use. Currently a lot of the features we use daily are missing, such as ETP, Constant Mach, Offset, Time Markers, Optimum Step Points, etc. They plan to add a lot of them and once they do I'll create the vid! It would feel wrong to create such a vid only to leave half of what we do out.

Wow, I cannot believe you actually flew that entire flight without an autopilot and it maintained heading and altitude. I've not seen a single MSFS mod do that yet. Add salt spray to that wing full of bugs and you're in Miami 😂

Great video. But I would never had a plane lined up for +5 minutes for whatever reasons, especially as Lübeck is not the usual bush field and likely to be emergency alternate near Hamburg. Also as radar controller I would ask the DA-Driver to accept a short ILS to vector him between the fast guys for a more reasonable time.

I'll see what I can do, the problem here is that the camera constantly moves up and down, so if I'd go to the outside for a bit during cruise it would look really really weird during those accelerated flight phases.

What kind of peripherals are you currently using. This upcoming year I think there’ll be an influx of FFB yokes or devices.

Hey, I am not sure whether the registration D-D is a valid one? I don't think it is allowed in Germany. This aircraft should be D-E I think.

The Registrations are dynamically created and the algorithm doesn't know the letter coding after the country code. So yes, you are right it should be an E.

Interessant das mit der ILS-Frequenz. Hat sich laut LIDO Karte im November geändert.

So sieht Jeppi das auch - das spannende ist jedoch, dass alle meine Anflüge in HAM kürzlich keine Probleme hatten. Entweder können ini und Fenix also die Simulatorfrequenz auslesen und nicht die Databasefrequenz, oder irgendetwas irgendwo sehr schief in den internen Logiken.

@A330Driver Hast du die Navigraph Database drauf? Mit der neuesten habe ich auch schon Probleme gehabt. Da fehlten plötzlich ganze Luftstraßen und Wegpunkte. Mit der Default Datenbank waren die alle wieder da.

@@A330Driver Ich habs mal mit beiden Datenbanken versucht, beide haben die falsche Frequenz. Da bleibt nur doch die Szenerie. Ich hab die von Simwings drauf, sieht bei dir auch so aus, glaube ich. Wird wahrscheinlich an der liegen.

Aktuell nicht, COWS modelliert die Flieger so, wie sie sie real selbst fliegen. Nur so können sie sicherstellen, dass sie wirklich so exakt wie möglich sind.

DA42 and DA40 are designed for different missions. The 40 is more simple and is a great starter aircraft and is much more maneuverable and fun to fly at lower speeds, where-as the 42 is more for longer range missions. 40 competes more with the Cessna 172, Piper Archer/Warrior, Cirrus SR20 where-as the 42 is more competing with the Piper Seminole, P2006T, Baron G58 etc

I'd say at the pricepoints COWS offers them at it's absolutely worth getting them both. The 40 is quite different, though similar, to the 42. Both have their individual quirks and behaviors. Much recommended to check them both out!
