In this video I show you how to remove the tach board from your tachometer and replace it. This applies to all 75-77 C3 Corvettes that had an electronic tach. The "Zeroing" of the needle applies to any 75-82 C3 Corvette that has an electric Tach installed.
If interested in a TheCorvetteBen KZbin Channel window decal, please send $5 through PayPal to Benjamin.friend56@yahoo.com. If you are international, please contact me first about price!

The "thumbs down" are just the junkies who only like the vlogs where some life-endangering issue is discovered. Keep up the good work.

Ben, that board is probably fine. In my experience (10 yrs) restoring pinball machines, one of the most common problems I've run into with old boards is that the solder and pins being different metals they tend to corrode and create an oxidization layer between them, thus interrupting the flow of electrons. Simply re-heating/ re-soldering all the solder joints will resolve almost all problems. I would say though that the one resistor on that old board did get hot, but that's probably normal. One could probably just replace the resistor and caps and re-solder the joints and the old board would be just fine. Of course, I am a glutton for punishment and like to save a few bucks. ;)

From experience seems like it might have had a water leak or windows might have been left open. Glad you're back.

Such lovely new gauges, Ben! I may need to look into those soon. My tach needle bounces like a bouy on a whitewater rapid and my speedo is short by about 5mph lol but that was my fault and I know what I need to do to fix it. Cheers and happy 2021!!!!

dumb question; is it worth trying to rebuild the old circuitboard by replacing the old resistors with new ones, or is it more feasible to just order a new one? ....I haven''t looked up what a new circuitboard costs

Hi! I've taken my cluster out of my mercedes several times and taken it apart to try to replace the little LCD screens. You have to take the needles off to get to the screens. What a pain in the ass to reset them! Lol I've got them reset pretty close but my fuel gauge is still sitting a little high. I don't understand why they don't put some kind of notch on the stems to position the needles in the same place they were. Are all automotive engineers stupid or just some? Lol
