I think it makes sense (and an easier manifold install), and moreso in dealing with wet flow tendencies: anything dropping out of suspension wants to collect on the floor and just slobber its way in. Some cases that little eyebrow shaped clean spot in a chamber between intake and exhaust is a tell [and why a floor fin is sometimes a good idea because it splits the fuel creep in two parts, giving it a better chance to shear back into suspension at low lift]. I don't have a flow bench, but something between 0.010"-0.015" was my instinct: the small low pressure area pops fuel back into suspension, and should net a gain over minor added turbulence? Only a dyno tells the story. I suspect that number becomes somewhat negotiable depending on port velocity/geometry. Vizard may have commented on this before and if he did... I think I missed it - it just escapes me at the moment..

I had one of those on a gt40p engine with a E303 Cam it wasn't any better than a low rise proformer. A dual plane Weiand stealth produced the most power. They were all untouched, i was glad to see the Dominator go when i found someone to buy it.

This is exciting stuff! This was my first hot rod purchase also, Andy! Back before the internet when you had to buy the Bargain Finder every Thursday and look through the Auto Parts section. I picked one up used and put it on my '75 Monza (1-yr only 262 cu in) along with a Carter 500 AFB. In your case you've got about 4 - 5 times as much engine going on under that intake, but I'm excited to hear that the intake is a reasonable performer, I always assumed it was a bit of a turkey - like the Tarantulas and Scorpions of the day. I am looking forward to seeing how your modifications look once you're done. I'm sure it will be effective.

I had an aluminum manifold on a 65 Mustang 289 back in 1976 that had a special runner between cylinder 4 and 8. It was supposed to equalize the air flow in the intake. I don't remember the name of the manifold but ran it for many years with good power and fuel mileage. I have never seen another one like it since.

Two of the very best in airflow tech my opinion and many others no doubt, love it gentleman! Hey, I’m using something called a “Super Sucker” sounds funny, but it’s a spacer which is air bench flowed. Gives dynamic release of the air as it flows past the carburetor directing it in a way which is dynamic to enhance desired. It’s basically a cone shape on the exit side of the carburetor eliminating the big gap on the bottom side of carburetor. It’s the underside of the carburetor base as viewed by the engine, sure you can see this void visually? It’s in the interest of velocities which as you know and are developing very well! The Holly Street Dominator for the raised block version of the big block Mopar was the best intake available at the time. On a 440, with 9.5-1 compression, heads ported with Mopar Performance porting templates and 2.14 and 1.88 valves, Mopar Performance .509/292 hydraulic flat tapped cam and a few other things made 521 HP. In a light Duster that meant 10.90 treeitory.

This was interessting because I have, and I have read most of DV books. According to those, the best single plane SBC manifold to modify is the Weiand Street Ram 7525. We have uses the Holley Street Dominator EGR SBC manifold with good results, but in one of DVs books it says that the Street Dominator could / should be avoided. :) He said something like: After a frustrating day on the dyno, a change to a Victor jr. manifold gained...I think it was 30 hp.

I have a holley street dominator as a Snowflake stamping for my Pontiac engine Im rebuilting next. Some used to say it was a better performance than others, but some say it's only because it was made in winters founderies. Why would they stamp it with a Snowflake anyway ? Any tought? And I have this 72' 429ci-4v from a marquis. I know the heads are the worst for pre-ignition because of the changing era to meet the gvt fuel standard. Is there anything to do with it or it's better to leave it bonne stock for fuel factor. 58' Fairlane 500 body for it. They already had put a 72' LTD 400 cleveland (4x4 B-S). For comon driving and around town, wich would be better to rebuilt ? I know, I prefer the 429ci-4v myself.

You are changing the firing order of the engine with a 4/7 swap camshaft. Which changes the dynamics of what is happening in the Plenum. 18436572 vs 18736542 BUT you still have the same dilemma but now it's on cylinders 4 and 2 instead of 5 and 7 Hope this helps Andy
