I was a paramedic for 10 years and have seen what happens after some accidents or disasters. We had one guy riding on the forks of a forklift when it overturned and he ended up getting his throat slit from ear to ear. He survived but had a large hole in his trachea. With another call we had a guy who was 19 if I remember correctly and he was in the bucket of a cherry picker at work and the bucket was all the way up and he didn’t have a helmet or a harness on. The cherry picker ended up overturning and the guy was thrown out of the bucket and landed on a huge sheet of glass on a table and he had a large hole in his head and he was in cardiac arrest. He didn’t survive and I declared him deceased before we left to go to the hospital. I’m amazed how many people ignore safety because they think nothing will ever happen to them but it can. Those are only 2 things I saw as a medic. I’ve seen many accidents medical calls in those 10 years. They seemed to wait until I was on shift somehow!

Like hearing screeching brakes coming from behind you. While you are sitting at a stop light. Be cool to have a horn that made that sound 😁

Last Wednesday night and into early Thursday morning we had Hurricane Milton. We got a lot more rain than we were supposed to get and the winds also were. Lot worse than we anticipated. Had about 1 1/2 feet of rain and wind gusts over 100mph. The entire town got flooded and what really sucks is this had happened on September 28, 2022 when we had Hurricane Ian who dumped 2 feet of rain and wind was up to 98mph. The entire town flooded with Ian. Been through a lot of hurricanes but only Ian and Milton flooded the town and since 2022 we went through 7 hurricanes and tropical storms (one was when we were in S Florida for my aunts funeral. It was a tropical storm that had hit CA and crossed the Gulf of Mexico to us). We had 3 hurricanes (Charley, Francis, and Jean) in one summer about every 2 weeks which is my record. In 2022 weeks had Hurricanes Ian and Nicole and the one TS. This year we had Hurricane Milton and Debby and Helene as tropical storms. So ready to move!

Some of these were planned demolitions that worked some weren’t planned carefully and some were disasters. The one with the jeep and the tree, the Jeep had a cable attached to the tree to pull it down, just to short.

The guys playing with gas and fire got lucky. A guy I know drunkenly decided to spell his name in the yard with gas and light it. After an expensive ride in a helicopter, he got out of the burn unit 13 days later, headed for a divorce for things said on painkillers.

That's an electric mini mill. I witnessed many such instances; once a #11 rebar climbed up a girder and shorted out a 440 line. The mill has to have 4-5 cutting torch rigs to cut everything up. You're looking at 3-5 hours to clear it up. There's NO safe space in a mini mill.

Some designs are worse than others. Our rigs spread sand/salt ahead of drive tires. While not perfect, it really cuts down on said scenarios.

At 5:28, I'm guessing one of the diagonal cross braces on the center upright between the two bays was bent inwards ( / to > ); we had that happen at the retail warehouse I work at, and had to remove all pallets from both bays and keep pallets out of them until the upright in question could be replaced. I was told that collapse could happen if the pallets stayed in either of the bays the upright supported. It would explain why the shelves just collapsed like that though.
