I do so love Wolves. Your color choices were perfect for this piece. I tried a somewhat similar experiment with a cut out of my Son's name. While Gesso dried on canvas, I applied strips of wide Blue Painter's Tape on a sheet of Reynolds Cut-Rite wax paper taped flat to a cutting board. After drawing his name on the blue tape, (a 3"Hx1/2"W stand alone 'C' and a 1/2"Hx1/8"W connected script 'ole'- the 'l' being 3/4"H), I cut out around his name with a small box knife; removed wax paper careful to keep fingers off edges of tape then, with a smooth board behind my canvas, I positioned and pressed the lettering onto the canvas, lightly smoothing to ensure sealed edges. I did a dirty pour covering the entire canvas, waited 10-15 minutes for paint to settle before using a needle to pick up an edge of the lettering then gently and easily peeling off the tape, pulling straight up and forward, leaving a clean lines and canvas beneath. Outlines were without high protruding edges and no seepage under the letters. I painted in the lettering with his favorite red, choosing to use a metallic then, put the painting away to cure. The only time consuming part of doing this was me getting the lettering drawn the way I wanted them to look and cutting out the small script written 'ole'. Maybe you could try this with 2-3 wide tape strips long enough to tape over canvas side, draw, cut out the silhouette and affix to your canvas. Just keep a hard flat surface under the canvas so not to push canvas out of shape.Tape is removed before paint is dry allowing you to finish your work sooner. This tape is used over thoroughly dried paint (latex, acrylic ) also. Good Luck if you try it.

I think he's lovely. When you first poured the blank paint and tipped to so it would run , I instantly saw a poodles face and the the face of a man with his mouth open . Very cool. Also when you lay down your vinyl , if you paint round the edges with the same colour that's underneath first, when you go to peel it off any bleeds will be the same colour as underneath and not the black . I tried it decorating and it works like a charm.

I think the varnish idea was a winner. The only thing with the masking fluid is it is more messy and time consuming. But works well, it might work better with the varnish underneath. Worth a shot. Great job, again.

I love your silhouette concept. Thank you for trying so many ways to make it easy. I was thinking what if you painted the white part of the canvas (left side) with the gold, let it dry, then varnish, then peel-able paint. Continue doing the silhouette like you always do. Painting complete when you peel the peel-able paint off.

Another brilliant masterpiece to add to the collection ♡ I love watching the transformation after you swipe. What do you think about doing a demonstration video on how you cut things out? I have no clue how the machine you use works. If it's to much of a hassle I definitely understand. Also, just wondering if it would help to put masking tape around the entire edge of the canvas where you need to peel.
@CraftyJenn6 жыл бұрын
Thank you SO much 😊 yes I've had a few people ask for a full from beginning to end tutorial so it's in the works 😊 I use the cricut for intricate silhouettes and to save time LOL This wolf though I had cut out by hand. If it's a simple silhouette it's easy to cut by hand as well. I hadn't thought about adding masking tape to the edge but that's a good idea thank you for sharing 😉👍 and thank you so much for watching 😊

After watching this video again I might suggest several tabs when you are pulling the dried white off. Always get very near where you are trying to pull it up from. You did a couple of times but elsewhere when you didn't is when it tore. Hope you don't mind the suggestion This goes for any time you are trying to remove a label, etc. No guarantees but I find it useful (some labels are super sticky)

Whatever you use (contact paper, vinyl, etc.) after you put it down over the varnish, put a light coat of the same varnish over the edges to seal them down. That's an old stenciler's trick (using the background color usually).

Thank you SO much for sharing :) Yes I've been sealing the edges this way and so far it's working pretty good:) I think I just need to press the vinyl down a bit better LOL Thank you so much for watching :)

Think gesso would work as the sealer?

May I ask. How do those little bubbles accure is it a spray? Or are they just air bubbles from the paint and they just pop?
@CraftyJenn6 жыл бұрын
It's from the additives in the paint :) Here's a link to how I mix my paints; kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipnSiaeLfpJ2qK8 and a link to supplies; www.amazon.com/shop/craftyjenn Thank you so much for watching :)

This is amazingly beautiful! I’m wondering if you have a video on how you mix your acrylic paints and to what ratios. I will keep digging around as I’m new to your channel but I am definitely loving what I am seeing :-) thank you
