Honestly, as a former 0311 Marine, the Regiment is how the Corps should be and how they think they are but aren’t. The training, standards, etc… don’t get me wrong, marine infantry is certainly a tough hard charging life, but like most thinks in the usmc in general, there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors with how they think they are and portrayed vs how things actually are
@marcuspayne97445 ай бұрын
Had two prior service Marine Grunts in my Unit at Bragg that switched over to the Army after one enlistment and went Airborne and got stationed at Bragg. Both admitted they were more impressed with how much better funded the Army was and better equipment and gear and more opportunities the Army has and more deployments to go on. They were good Soldiers and loved being part of such a brotherhood of Paratroopers.
@chasechaseschasecards5 ай бұрын
You do realize that rangers are an elite unit, right? Marine infantry is not elite. I'm not knocking your service but if you were an 0311 you are not close to being in ranger regiment. The hilarious thing to me is you don't even mention 11b, the primary MOS of ranger Batt dudes. Infantry. 11b and 0311 have much more in common than marine infantry and ranger regiment. I promise you. I deployed with 5th and 6th Marines in Ramadi. And I've also deployed with Rangers. Tasks and operations are different. Rangers are in a completely different league than an 0311 marine. You're an infantryman. You're not on par with Seals and Special forces. Marine Raiders are close to rangers though. But 0311? Nah.
@Eirik365 ай бұрын
@@chasechaseschasecards bro what are you talking about lmao? You wrote a paragraph of nothing. All I did was compliment the Ranger Regiment and analogize how the Marine infantry and the Corps in general needs to actually have the high standards/training for combat etc that they love to tell everyone they have, that the Regiment actually has. The ability to be RFS further proves upholding everything they preach. I’m literally saying my own community has a lot of smoke and mirrors. FYI, Raiders are more aligned with the Green Berets than anything the regiment does

Biggest issue the Corps and Army both have is leadership. Top personnel never seem to ever be legitimate people. Always some general that pushed papers and never excelled at anything making decisions for people that could lose their lives.

It’s not to late to switch
@gsurtos65882 ай бұрын
go make the switch, its never too late unless ur already +35, then it becomes situational and have to talk to recruiter. serve till ur marine contract ends. then leave, go to local community college for 2 years and get like +40 credit while also continue ur PHYSICAL FITNESS TRAINING during these two years. then apply to army 11b opt 40 contract. the reason for the credit is that i think if u have +40 credit, u can skip private and be like e-3 i think. so immediately u can jump start ur army career in rank and money $$$. or u know just make the switch immediately from marine to army once ur marine contract ends. talk to army recruiter and get ur 11b opt 40 contract. dont get stuck on the SHOULD and WOULD. make it reality.realistically, if ur still age eligible and you keep up with your physical fitness. i dont get why u would stop urself from trying to become a ranger. what others said, its never too late. unless u know if ur age +35 then it becomes situational. also if ur a 0311 marine and u become a 75th ranger. ur gonna be one of the few soldiers to ever experience two elite warriors branches of the armed forces. you'll definitely have stories to talk about ur life.
