Life is a Special Operation

5 жыл бұрын

What makes the 75th Ranger Regiment so special is that every Soldier in it is specially selected and screened, ranger qualified, and remarkably intense. If they don’t like your attitude or performance, they send you packing. This ensures that only the best and most intense Soldier remain.
This video is a part of the “What is” / “Explainer” playlist for Special Operations units. I plan to highlight essential pieces of Unclassified information about the most important Units within the Special Operations community. My goal is to make each video plus or minus 3 minutes.

My son has just been 1 year now, I remember vividly him wanting to be a 68W with an option 40 contract.. he didn't get one but he got an option 4 (airborne only). I told him to hold out until he got the option 40 with his contract to guarantee him a chance at rasp. Well he didn't want to wait so he took the option 4 (68W 04) and told me he will just let them know at airborne that he wants rasp. Being prior Army I told him if it's not in writing NOTHING is guaranteed Period. He said but dad the recruiter said I will have a good chance at Rasp at airborne school, then I asked him was his lips moving, he said yes, I said he is lying. Well he went to basic at Ft. Jackson last September after that AIT at FT. Sam. One week after AIT at Sam he left to FT Benning for Airborne school. He had made several good friends while there that got the option 40 contract and was going straight to RASP after AIT at FT Sam. He was bummed they were moving on but he talked to a Ranger Regiment Recruiter at Aiborne school and they dropped a packet for him. He found out one day before airborne graduation he got selected to go to RASP. Having said all that Keep Faith and go for what you want. He is going to SOCM this month before some of the guys that had Option 40 contracts. I just can't believe it was so simple. My advice, keep your nose clean, study, keep trying, GET A GOOD PT SCORE. We are a wrestling family so I ran his A$$ hard. He did the work and I never seen him happier. RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!!!

My best friend, may he rest in peace, served with 3rd Platoon, Bravo Company, 1st Ranger Battalion between 2012-2015. Also saw intense combat in Kandahar; his platoon went on 19 combat missions during their four months in-country. They were all night raids targeting HVTs. They worked alongside Afghan commandos, SEALs, and more. I still remember attending his RASP graduation, meeting a number of his buddies, and even visiting HAF once. Ever since, I've been an unrepentant fanboy of the 75th. They really are a great unit and I'm glad to have them protecting us.

Do you want to be Ranger qualified or be a 68w in the Regiment? There’s Ranger qualified (tabbed) and actually being in Batt (scroll). If it’s the latter, you can enlist with an Option 40 contract with the 68W MOS that’ll guarantee a shot at RASP after you complete AIT/Airborne school.

Well hate to break it to you but a Ranger Tab isn't an Actual Ranger and they'll make that real clear at RASP. i've also seen 2 people that had Ranger Tabs that failed to make it through RASP. Honestly all you need to do is work on chin ups,Push ups,Sit ups and the 2 and 5 mile Run. Asides from that., The hardest part for you won't be getting you're Tan Beret. The Hardest part for you will be "SOCM" which is for 68w, if you can't pass SOCM you will be put out of the Rangers. and that's a hard school

@@kokomine578 Guys get RFSd for all kinds of reasons. DUIs are somewhat common because Rangers love to drink. NDs will get you RFDs, failing Ranger school (depends on the reason why) can get you RFSd. Basically if you get in trouble or fail to meet the standard at any point you can get the boot. Doesn’t mean the road ends there Ive seen guys who got RFSd twice and still made it back in to Regiment for round 3.

Can you make a video of RASP 1 and RASP 2? And another one on Ranger School alone? Since you already did you on Special Forces training. For the Ranger School video, could you talk in detail about the weight people over those 61 days and offer advise about it? Example, in his book "Can't Hurt Me", David Goggins said lost 56 pounds over those two months. Can you do Special Operations Forces videos on the five Tier 1 units and Marine Corps Reconnaissance (that maybe just special infantry, but they are special operations-capable)?

Hello sir, when exactly was he there? That's when I was there! Enlisted in '96 got to the Regiment in '98, made RRD in '99-'00 and left for Green in '02 after Gecko/TF Sword and got out, well later. Is his last name Rosenthal/"Rosie"?

Some of you may notice foreign internal defense not listed as one their mission sets. Highly interesting that USASOC uses its rangers primarily as a direct action oriented “special infantry” if you will.

The book "Violence of Action" gave an interesting look into the evolution of the Regiment's capabilities in the GWOT, apparently Rangers have more direct action raids than Delta and Seal Team Six combined at the Tier 1 level in the GWOT.

@Miles Henry You will have to go to Ranger School regardless if you get the BRC pipeline in the Corp. But that's not RIP/RASP. But be warned, we only let marines come to Ranger School so we can watch them crawl crying back to the Corp! Lol Good Luck.

I wasn't a Ranger but was in the Infantry. My first unit was 2/47th at Ft Lewis in 1982. When I was still an E-1 or maybe an E-2, we were driving from our barracks to Lacy, Wa where one our friends lived off post in some trailer park with his wife. A car full of girls came up next to us and yelled, " Are Y'all Rangers?" And when we shook our heads no they drove off. That's my Ranger story. They were the Varsity kids on the block at Ft Lewis and we all knew it.

Those were likely aspiring "Ranger-etts". (AKA Ranger groupies.) Actual Ranger-etts would be able to spot a Batt-Boy on sight... even in civilian clothes. It seems every battalion has them in some form. Back in the 90's the really hardcore ones even traveled to Ranger Rendezvous and had their own meet up.

Justin your instructor is lying to you , or you have the time frame wrong, Because, there was no 2nd Rangers during the Vietnam War, the Battalions were not formed until after 1974, and the war was already over by then, 1st Bn was formed in 74 and 2nd Bn was formed in 1975 , I served in 1st Bn at Fort Stewart Ga, before the move to Hunter (HAAF) Savannah Ga, from 79 to 83, RLTW original scroll and black berets
