Very good job. For this video did you mix 6 liters of water for each bag?
@MrYoucandoityourself
@MrYoucandoityourself Ай бұрын
Yes, something like this. You need one 5-gallon bucket for 3 bags of self-leveling compound. This water volume recommendation is specifically for Mapei products; I'm not sure about other brands. For instance, the Sika self-leveling compound is sensitive to the amount of water used. Adding even a little bit more water can cause it to separate. I had a bad experience with it.

We have a 16 line laser but hadn't seen the tripods in the Philippines. We have a 28 room house to self level and the tripods are the solution. We are going to make up 50 of them. Thanks for sharing.

a trick I use sometimes is to stick small cubes of XPS foam at intervals on the floor, hit it with laser, then go around and cut them to height with a knife.

Hi there, the bags of compound are listed at 80 dollars a bag so I guess you are paying 30 dollars or less per bag. If it was your house and you wanted to save a few bob, would you go with a sand and cement slurry? As you have the tri-pods which takes care of the most difficult part, which is finding the level. I am a big fan of your work.

Hi Adam, money is always pain if you not invested money to Bitcoin before. :-) About other material as cement and send. How long it’s getting dry? How it’s bonded with old subfloor? Most of price it’s labor cost. You can try, but I don’t recommend you, it’s only your responsibility. About price you can negotiate with company. Thanks

I need to talk my boss into getting those tripods. I've been using tapcons. They're expensive and take a long time to put in. Also have tried the plastic self stick pins. Tripods seem like a perfect solution to not having to buy another tapcon or pin. Will save money in the long run...

Hi Dean, yes, it’s very easy to use. I just finished job yesterday and use tripods. You can find result on my Facebook page. Link in description. I also have a laser for setup tripods and check the floor imperfections. If you gonna discuss about amount of tripods - welcome to Facebook. We find solution. Thanks

Great video as all other yours. I have a 450sq ft basement project and I want to know if I install the self leveling compound on 2-3 sections would be a problem or not? The reason is because it’s not a small area and I can’t pour it fast by myself. I need some SL with longer working time, but all available on the market are very fast curing.

@@MrYoucandoityourself Well, there seems to be a difference somehow. I set up everything in place, bag tops cut, ready to dump. Even using 6-7 liters of water per bag, all water cooled, and mixing and pouring 4 bags at once, there isn't enough time for me to get 20 bags down, and still go over the area with the rake. So I rake some and mix again, but I usually end up raking over stuff that is too firm already to be raked. That can mean some grinding on the finished surface. So, when pouring 1000 sf, how is it that the deeper parts don't just gel up before you are ready?
@alanmonday9981
@alanmonday9981 3 жыл бұрын
I easily broke up an 1800 house floor. You can build dams out of 3" drywall strips and a few braces at 90 degrees to the strips away from the pour. Glue that all in with silicon caulk. That is another tip from Mr. Youcan. It is in some of his videos. The other point is to use more water, 6.5 liter per bag, and a barrel to mix 3 bags at a time. It is according to how deep. A 1/4 inch deep is a much different pour than 3/4 -1".

Hello, you set me up about a year ago with laser and tripods, and all the correct advice. Since then I've finished leveling, subfloor and engineered floors for the entire house, except for the master bedroom. Sadly, I find the room drops off quickly and 90% of the floor is 1" plus deep. What is your suggestion to deal with that?
@MrYoucandoityourself
@MrYoucandoityourself 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alan, if you did any walls moving, or change house structure without any engineering inspection, it’s can happen very often. Floor leveling can’t affect this big changes. Thanks.

@alanmonday9981 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrYoucandoityourself Well, no I never changed anything. I just got to the room and was a bit lower than 1" in most places. It was an addition but here when I bought it. So, my question is how would you deal with that? Pebbles layer? I can't just say, "Oh well, it sometimes happens." I need to fix it. I just wondered what you do in cases like that.

@@alanmonday9981I will start a project in a few weeks for floor leveling and installation. In that old house, additional parts come down over two inches. We can't do anything, because of different foundations - just level it as much as we can. No warranty for that additional structure how it will change elevation in the future. All questions to guys who did that foundation and framing, please. Thanks

@MrYoucandoityourself
@MrYoucandoityourself 3 жыл бұрын

@MrYoucandoityourself

Hi, I've a floor that requires flattening and levelling. It's approx 40m², I removed tiles from a screeded floor and I'm wondering if I can level over the old tile adhesive. It is firmly stuck down and very difficult to remove. I did contact a professional about doing the work but he has let me down. Is it OK to do this and what primer/compound is best for this situation. Thanks

Over mortar you can do the leveling. But if it’s glue for vinyl or asbestos tiles, you have to remove this glue first.

When you applied the thicker mix of self levelling compound after priming to patch the holes, I highly recommend you get yourself a Magic Trowel Squeegee and use this to spread your material instead of using a hand trowel on your knees. It attaches to a standard painter's pole like the one you were using to roll your primer on with. You will be able to spread your material a lot faster saving your knees and back. Cheers 👍
