Great Video! Can someone explain to me how he was able to use the Jayemdae Tome at 7:08? To me it looks like he only has 3 mana and the tome costs 4 in its ability? And why does he afterwards untap his lands again, I thought he just used them on the Tome? Sorry I'm a newbie :D

Nice match, fun to watch. I haven't played against 'The Deck' for years now so I can't tell which is version 1 (Abyss or Moat?) and also didn't come across a version that includes Lightning Bolts. Fellwar Stones seem to be missing from this build what makes it difficult to get ahead in the curve - especially with three tomes. My rule of thumb is to fight aggression with counter-aggression even when I'm playing a control-ish deck (after sb), even more so if I'm up against a burn deck. OT: My guess is you're working as a teacher ;-) the clock above the door frame is hinting towards that. I thought about health care but since the ceiling is made from an open-pored material that seems unlikely (at least that it is a hospital).

Hi Johnbush ;) he does play with 4 fellwar - they are altered into a heap of “call of Cthulhu tentacles” - so it’s hard to tell! Lol The deck with bolts is the newest irritation here. They are better against aggro and midrange because they are harder to overwhelm. Back when they only played 4 swords i could overwhelm them with creatures early game - now they run with 4 swords, 2-4 bolts and 1-2 abyss md. I think this version still has 4 books. I’m not sure what he has taken out to make room (there are no moat though). Well done in terms of the detective work using the ceiling and clock as an indicator! Pretty close too :D I work as a clinical psychologist and have a specialist degree is psychotherapy (treatment of psychological problems) but I do teach in psychology from time to time as well! Other than that - I diagnose psychological problems and send people to the places that can best help them depending on the nature of the problems - and then treating those with anxiety disorders or OCD myself. It’s really interesting and meaningful work to me most of the time :) So even though it is a kind of a hospital we see here - it’s not a “real” hospital I guess lol never knew about the ceiling as an indicator of that. :D

@@RaVNeFLoK That's probably why I didn't spot the Fellwar Stones. I agree on using Lightning Bolts as a removal, they are so effective against early threats with a smaller toughness and you don't have to waste Counterspells or Swords which can be saved for Juzams and the lot. So, health care it is, that would have been my second guess (actually my first judging from the hooks for the white coats but that ceiling put me off). And it is a meaningful work I really appreciate! Teacher would fit you as some people in the comments wrote that they like listening to you, most likely because of your soothing style of commenting the game. It might be a professional habit and not a bad one. Mine actually brought me to the conclusion that it's not a hospital: I work as a lawyer and one of my two main practice areas is construction law. Even though I haven't been involved in the (legal) building process of a hospital since my legal clerkship that piece of useless knowledge stuck in my head: It is compulsory not to use open-pored material in most areas of a ("real") hospital as said material's surfaces cannot be properly sanitized, including the ceiling. Always happy to share pieces of useless knowledge :D

Yes I thought for sure we would see at least two from the sb and the deck would get bebs as extra removal against them. But it turned out his play was splashing a full playset of disenchants in against the abyss and artifacts instead. I likely he had to choose between those two approaches as the moons would lock him out of his own white splash completely as his cities of brass would become mountains. But yeah - moons would had been very viable as well - one or the other 😊

groveling goblin I got a hold of his deck pick just now. It has 3 brass, 2 savannah and a pearl for white and no white cards before sb. Cutting it pretty tight lol I suppose his setup is not very blood moon friendly- opting for that surprise splash after sb instead.

I’m glad you like the matches. I haven’t considered removing the music entirely- but I’m going to lower the volume as I agree they do run the risk of getting too distracting otherwise. Thanks for the input!

Good games, especially the final game was a nail-biter. A few suggestions: Turn the music volume way down (or perhaps remove the music completely), it distracts from the game. Make sure to check the shot before you start recording the game to make sure you eliminate glare on all cards. It makes a world of difference to the quality of the video that every card is clearly visible. Good videos, keep up the good work :-)

ben hat thx for the feedback mate. Ill try to turn the volume of the music down in the next one. I’ve had people in previous videos write that they really like having the music - so I don’t think I’ll remove it entirely as of yet. But please let me know if the reduced volume is quiet enough in the next one. The glare thing I’m working on. It’s really difficult at a live tournament like this- especially one that I am participating in myself at the same time as the recording takes place, as then I can’t check the videos for glare during filming. At a tournament I can’t choose the lighting or location either. Atm My strategy is to setup the camera at a spot with minimum glare, and then point out to the players where the worst glare areas are so they can avoid putting cards there. But sometimes the players just forget the spot during the heat of the battle, and other times I forget to tell the next set of players as I’m moving between several recording stations and also playing games myself. The best solution long term (and also the far more lazy solution) would likely be something to shade the tables with permanently- so we avoid any direct lighting and only have indirect lighting - but I haven’t figured out how to do that yet and I don’t own a ton of lighting equipment. Let me know if you have any other methods/ideas and thx for the comment. :)

@@RaVNeFLoK Yup, the music is a personal preference which differs from person to person, if the general feedback is that music is prefered, then go with that :-) About glare: I can see how both participating in games and recording makes it a lot more challenging. I would think that the particular angle of the shot is very important to avoiding glare, and the optimal angle shot could change during a tournament. Maybe it's possible to do a quick check / adjustment of the camera shot every time you switch opponent? Just an idea, it might not be practical in a live tournament. Also, I would imagine that card sleeves might also play a role, I think that some sleeves are better suited than others when it comes to reducing glare (I know, you can only control the sleeves you use on your own cards, not the opponent, but it could make a difference). Just a few thoughts, hope they can be useful :-)

Matteo Gallo good suggestion! atm I usually use a borrowed camera for half the matches I record at a given tournament and then a stick with my phone on it (iPhone 8) for the other half of matches. I’d need to invest in my own video camera then with a polarizing lense. Atm corona needs to die down and the world needs to open up for live OS tournaments again first and foremost :)

Alex Tigrou i Think 14:00 is brain geyser? But it would make sense to mark that as well I suppose. Ancestral seemed unmarked to me. it does Seem some of the cards have a weird light effect in this game. Hmm I’ll ask him next I meet him- Im positive it’s just pure chance some of the cards might have a different angle in regards to glare. It makes no sense to cheat in OS as we play for fun and only small fun prizes - even the big tournaments mostly have souvenirs for the first place and that’s it. Plus I know him a bit. It would reeeeally surprise me lol

Yes in this format (Swedish) Its played without mana work - but with mana burn you can actually activate it an infinite amount of times.
