Rosemary Butler stood out in the live video of Runnin on Empty. She may have been a harmony or backup singer with Doug Haywood, but she, and Doud actually, stood our because of the amazing vocals. Jackson Browne smiles because he knew that his group for that tour (the Section I think), was otherworldly with insane talent. He looked like it was an honor to play with Them. Holy crap, David Lindley made everything a couple notches better as well. His play gives/gave me 😢chills as a kid listening to Jackson Browne, in the back of a wood paneled station wagon. Of course, I'm laying all of this on one the world's foremost bassists/studio musician - not like you're unaware! Peace

Hey Leland, I first heard Rosemary back in the mid 70's and a lot after that. Her voice just jumped OUT when I heard her. She has the kinda voice, once again, when I heard her, I fell in love with her not even knowing what she looked like. I absolutely love her voice, plus you got to work with her. What an honor. Yeah, David is missed also. I'm glad you made it home alright. It's pretty crazy out there, I just bought a new car and I drive more aware than I ever have in my life. Even with all the bells and whistles, I'm ever vigilant on the road. Too bad they don't have a drunk driver warning on the newer vehicles. Any way, Thank you for Rosemary Butler, Doug🎸🎹🥁

I hadn't realized Rosemary had been in Bertha - or that she played Bass - or that she was Left handed! She was so nice and gracious. I met her with Gina and Debra and she asked each of us what we did and I asked her what she did...just kidding...it was nice finally getting to meet her after all these times of seeing here playing at Bogies but never seeing those shows except for an occasional guest visit on someone else's show. And she's an Orange County gal - from Fullerton (Like Jackson - who was also there apparently, and Luke as well - missed them both!) What a great night - got to see Gregg and Grant and CJ and have a little hang time with each of them!

Wow! Rosemary❣️ A lot of fun stuff! Back again tonight, after a few harrowing crossings. The controlled intersection crosswalks here, are seemingly the most out of control for over a year now. It's almost a relief to wait forever for a very long gap in a constant busy place where there are no, traffic lights. I listen for the wheels on the pavement going away from the vortex. Not the engines. The engines can mask an electric vehicle. I've dreamed of elaborate zip lines and catapults with trapeze nets, or an exoskeleton piece of machinery like Sigourney Weaver in the second Aliens movie. Glad you made it back home❣️

I often think that fuel is still too cheap (it’s approaching 2 EUR per liter here) when I see these drivers racing on the autobahn. But I guess most of them use company cars and they don’t care about the cost of fuel.. 🙄

First of all, glad you got home safe! I've noticed a disproportionate amount of awful drivers since the pandemic began, as well. Thought it was my imagination. Love this album. Rose and Doug Haywood were so nice to me when I met them on the RoE tour. I was five or six at the time, but you tend never to forget these things. Good folks. Im visiting grandkids in "the valley of the sun" I prefer driving the freeways of LA anu day than the one's in Az. Its scary! I have to remember alot of drivers here have a gun in their car and wouldn't hesitate to shoot if you upset them. Plus I notice very few people wearing masks. Maybe 1 in 10. That's crazy too. "They ended up opening for the Rolling Stones in 1964"… I wasn't even *born* then. Thanks for making me feel young (-ish). :D I like CDs and yes, even more so (for the utter convenience) files on my PC. But I do miss the sheer size of vinyl albums. Cover art just had more room to shine. And the print size is just because they take the album art and everything (including the liner notes) and reduce it to CD size. Thus, *tiny* text.

Well, since the subject came up, I have a fairly personal spider story which I might recount, albeit somewhat obliquely. It dates from one particularly hot summer night in 1969 in, of all unlikely places, the small hillside canyon community of Sierra Madre, California. Needless to say, I survived the incident. As did all of my involved compatriots. I'm not really speaking of anything physical or medical here, but rather of a near legal system "bite" related to a specific local historic incident and involving a certain Central American violin spider statue which for a time occupied a hallowed place of honor in downtown Sierra Madre Park. The incident even made the local community newspaper, complete with B&W photo evidence alleging commission of a so-called "crime", the exaggerated description of which to this day I still dispute (all archaic, aging microfilm and newspaper photo evidence of these matters notwithstanding). 😄 Anecdotal footnote to this factual historical recounting: Said statue was ultimately RE-"stolen", and for good that final time. But not by me, nor by anyone that I knew, at least that I know of
