@MrBookemdaveАй бұрын
@@lcc726 I agree about parking being a major issue. Just think about the nightmare of an additional 5,000 or 8,000 or 10,000 cars descending on Center City during evening rush hour to attend a 76ers game or concert. You'd need 100 cops directing traffic at all the major intersections. And think of how backed up 676 would be with a several miles long line of cars waiting to exit. However, the point I was trying to make was that what the mayor is selling is "We're keeping the 76ers in Philly!" when actually the 76ers ownership is primarily building a concerts & events space, which will make them more $$$ than hosting the 76ers games. Could you imagine the mayor making this type of deal with Live Nation? ..."We're giving Live Nations hundreds of millions of $$$ for a Center City concert venue!" She'd be a national joke. There's no way the 76ers owners would make the big $$$ from building a concert venue in South Jersey, so IMHO there is no way they'd leave Philly for NJ.

@tctc2703 tell them to build in your neighborhood. There's plenty of space in the Northeast that they could have used But they would never have the guts to go into a majority, white neighborhood and displace people and businesses the way they do in minority neighborhoods. That myth about bringing business is a lie. Nobody goes downtown because they don't want to deal with the parking. The small street, or having to ride dirty trains to get there. That area has been failing since the 1980's. Almost every large city that had their arenas built-in their downtown area, told Philadelphia not to do it because it is not economically feasible. And it makes traffic ten times worse. Not only that, but the money they will be paying the people to work.Those jobs is not worth it.

I love how they always approve of crap to be built in minority neighborhoods. Every single large city that has a downtown arena told Philadelphia not to do it. The few jobs that it is going to bring is not going to make up the money that it's going to cost. Nobody goes downtown because nobody wants to ride Septa, and the parking is already terrible. That's why the area isn't thriving. And how many people are actually going to be able to afford to go to those games when they build that building? None of that so called saving is going to the people of the city. The sixers should've went over to Jersey. Because they will be the only ones that can afford to pay for the d*** tickets to the first place. They're gonna be the only ones using Septa.
