I see folk shouting out members of the Time for their playing on this song (like Jellybean on drums and Jesse on guitar). When in fact, only one member of the Time played on this recording. 777-9311 as well as the Time's first two albums was pretty much the work of TWO people: Prince (keys, guitar, bass guitar, background vocals, drum programming, songwriting & production) and Morris Day (Lead & background vocals, drums). They did a masterful job of both recording this & duping us, because back then this ish is str8 funky and you couldn't have made me believe this one done by only two musicians. Respect and RIP to the Purple One.

Absolutely true. Prince and Morris did everything. I was impressed, however with the band members of the Time being able to learn all the parts Prince created and duplicate the sound when they did their live performances.

@@ucbx I agree…. 👏 People here are actually making references to the concerts in which the band (The Time) actually played & performed the song. That said, Prince did a masterful job at producing, writing, & playing the instruments 🎹 🥁 🎸 (albeit drum machine). I personally wished that Prince had made a instrumental version for I know it would’ve been way better. Still, we’re able to play-with-it (tongue-n-cheek).

Yeah, that was the best part when Morris “bridged “ it by saying, “baby” which allowed the music to go into a different direction. The bridge is also @ 2:07 where he says it again. Thanks for watching it. I’m currently working on the song, “Cool” by the Time.

If I may add. Back-in-the-day artist used to have several versions of the original song featured on-a 12” However, Prince/The Time decided upon only two versions; radio and a 12” version which was about 10 minutes long, but no instrumental….. 🤷🏾‍♂️? Maybe it was not needed and/or over looked. I don’t know why…. 🧐?
