This recording was made in Aoril 1952. Shand did not start recording for Parlophone until 11/1945 although three records were made in 1936. Google Bill Dean-Myatt's Scottish discography. You may have been misled by one website which lists most Parlophone 78s dated to 1942. Shand finished with Beltona in early 1945.

Thanks Philip, you're not the first that's mentioned this - and I think we're on about the same website - when I say I used them for most of my research. Hindsight is an unassailable virtue for me in this case I'm afraid, but the Shand videos are indeed earmarked for editing to reflect the true release dates - when I can get around to dealing with them. I do review my older videos occasionally when I get the time - any that I cannot edit - I pull and redo. Uploading my records is simply a pastime - there isn't any monetary gain whatsoever in my KZbin Channel.

Hi John superb sound quality for an old 78 record , whats your secret?
@WhisperedDreams9516 жыл бұрын
Hi Charles, no secret - I use Open Source 'Audacity' for all my recording (the software is freeware - anyone can download it). The record deck is hooked up to the audio input jack on my PC. The cleaned up audio is saved as an MP3 then imported into Windows Movie Maker 6.0 Version 1709 (also free and downloadable) where I make the video. I use a Microsoft Lifecam for video (with the audio muted). I will add that I've had to use Movavi video converter as the lifecam software doesn't have the option to save the video as an WMV file - which is needed for the Windows Movie Maker. One last point - you must have the audio drivers for stereo mix installed (audio properties in Control Panel) and Lame codecs installed (Lame is also freeware). Camera was purchased on eBay for about GBP15.00 and the Movavi program for around the same amount. Hope this helps.

@@charlesduguid4811 Same as before Charles, by I save as wave now instead of MP3 - not so many hiccups with wave - a lot easier - especially with Audacity - and Windows Movie Maker recognises it no problem.
