Ramsey lives in the past . He think real estate will go up forever . He thinks the US can not fail even with spending more than what you are taking in. The US dollar will always be in demand . That all countries must use the dollar . That all countries are at the mercy of US. I doubt if he really believes 2008 happened . The Stock/Real Estate guys are all like that.. They all think metals are for conspiracy nuts.

MONEY. Gold, silver, and some other less precious metals, in the progress of civilization and commerce, have become the common standards of value; in order to avoid the delay and inconvenience of regulating their weight and quality whenever passed, the governments of the civilized world have caused them to be manufactured in certain portions, and marked with a Stamp which attests their value; this is called money. Try going to the grocery store and buying food with gold or silver. Try making a car, rent, mortgage payment or paying ANY debt with physical gold or silver, (aside from receiving a coin's face value). Physical gold and silver is USELESS, until it is FIRST converted to fiat money and as most of us realize, good luck with even getting spot price.
@gotsilver77

@tjmmcd1 do you even have a clue? Why do you think "you buy" goods with fiat currency? Because that currency( debt note) can be converted to real money. Yep, the affiliate programs make a killing for him. He once said that in the last days, "people will cast their gold and silver in the streets". The Bible does say that about a specific blasphemous dominion, before Christ's return. I don't live there, and will never visit there, so who cares! Other than that one time, Scripture fully supports gold and silver as money, and tells Adam and Eve where to find it in Gen.2. See also James 5 for what happens to people who corrupt gold and silver for their benefit. Amos 8 showd what happens to those who tinker with the man-made money supply for their benefit. Dave Ramsey should read his Bible.

@@beckyelliott2871 IMO, the value of cash is vastly under-appreciated by investing "pros" because they want us to "keep our money working"... yes, indeed... for them! When we buy some gold or silver or hold some cash, that money leaves their management and is unlikely to ever return. This reduces their income. But it can increase our wealth if we hold cash so we can swoop in and scoop up some real bargains during a recession, hold them for a year and even less sometimes, and then sell them for a FAT profit. This has been of considerable help to both my former 401K plan and my current rollover IRA. I use some of the distributions to buy more gold and a little silver. Seems like a win-win to me.

Unfortunately for us small investors, we find out about those poor decisions AFTER it is too late. You literally just got lucky. Too many of us were not so lucky and lost more than you made. What Dave Ramsey doesn't tell you: >Dividends and interest are meaningless if they are from an outfit that can't afford to pay them. >Unless you have PDF stock certificates in your hand registering actual share numbers to your name, all you own are credits for shares. The platform you bought those credits through must remain solvent enough, long enough, to redeem you out. If the platform goes insolvent, you go to zero. They're nothing more than glorified Chuck E Cheese tokens without the certs in your hands. >Robert Kiyosaki owns more real estate than Dave Ramsey and is wealthier than Dave Ramsey because Robert Kiyosaki understands the relationship between depreciation, amortization and free cash flow while Dave Ramsey does not. Depreciation and amortization add to the cash flow of your operation while reducing your taxable income. Robert Kiyosaki minimizes his own personal exposure to the real estate market. One bad tenant who walks away from the rent or trashes the property will not sink Robert Kiyosaki. However, if your follow Dave Ramsey's advice, such a scenario is guaranteed to sink you.

Most of my wealth comes from inherited oil royalties from my great grandfather. My parents always told me, 'never sell the royalties'. Looking at my tax returns in 2018, for example, the income was less than 30k. This year it will be ~450k. This is based on of course, discovery...oil companies drilling on the land, and the price. The income over the years swings WILDLY. There is a saying among 'oil men'. It is this: 'Please Lord, just give me one more boom. I promise I won't blow it this time.' There is nothing you can own, that the price doesn't go up and down, sometimes, drastically. Over the years I have taken part of those earnings to buy gold. Once that oil is produced, it's gone. The gold is still there. Fact of the matter is, making money is hard, keeping it is harder. There is no magic formula.

Investing in stocks and bonds ONLY, is saying you place your faith in the government, local or world-wide, that it will never lose control. Land investment is a long term hope as well. Both Stock market and land speculation will be worthless if government collapses, remember the Confederate paper money? It became wallpaper for many southern homeowners.

This was the early stages of the internet. I could not find anywhere that I could get the actual gold in my hand that was certified. It was $175.00 per ounce at that time. I was young and easily LED. I ended up being talked into investing that money into online stock market. When that just became a thing. That money disappeared to a third of what I had before I pulled it out and lost half of it. What an awesome retirement plan that would have been if I could have only figured out how to buy that gold back then.

Fun facts. If you deposit dollars in a bank, the money is no longer yours, it is a loan from you to the bank. The bank balance you see in your statement is an IOU from the bank. If you buy stocks or mutual funds (a group of stocks), those are also not owned by you. Stocks are owned by a holding company unless you have the paper certificates, which companies no longer issue. The stocks you see in your brokerage account are an IOU. Also, those stocks held by the holding companies are loaned out for shorting, so even the holding company may not have your stocks in their possession!!!

@@prettykitty5416sure, but they also wouldn't take all their money out of stocks to go buy gold necklaces. The whole point is that it just sits there and retains its value. It doesn't produce more gold over time, if you held an oz for 50 years you would still have 1 oz of gold and be none the richer, yes the value will have gone up in terms of dollars, but so will the value and cost of most everything else you might want to use it to buy. People don't like it as an investment because over long periods of time, properly managed income producing assets are generally going to beat it massively. "But gold is up 30% this year" people will say. Yes, that is impressive, but my stock portfolio is up 130% over the past year, because some of the companies I'm invested in have made money hand over fist. I won't maintain that rate of return in the long run, and neither will gold, but historical data shows the stocks will win, and that's for a good reason, the companies they represent produce value, all gold does is retain its value.

This is why the Three Wisemen didn’t bring stock certificates as gifts for Jesus. 😂
