Thanks for pointing out sim racing. As a sim racer and follower of your channel, i can add little bit of info. In general, sim racing is both gpu and cpu bound, almost always. What is irrelevant for most cases - is single screen performance and general bentchmarks dont represent actual situation. 3 screens render is the more relevant scenario case, like 3x1080, 3x1440. Its not resolutiom thingy, its actual seperate 3 screens render, which is very actual for cpu too. Real sims are highly heavy on their physics engine, specially on multi racing, multi class and on large tracks. Gpu is working hard if you want eye candy on that large resolution, but esports settings usually are quite low, because in general there are no system that can cope with max out settings in sim, difficult topic. AMD cache was god send, i think mostly because of tracks, and cars being some sort stable items. But high cpu freq and tuned ram is also relevant, so this topic for sim racers is relevant, problem that most of sim racers are not hw friendly and to build the system is very expensive, excluding cost for pc.

Whats fun with Cyberpunk 2077 is cranking the settings up like say DLAA + PT + FG + Max Crowds + Everything maxed out, turn film grain off, run at 3440x1440 head to dog town to the area with the secret agent bar and the tree that entire area is a .1-1% low/frametime killer at those settings.. This is why my 7800x3d sits there, as it has to access lots of assets, especially parts of a games database when things are cranked up, it starts to buckle on .1-1% lows. Its why I bring tha tup with the fanboys on social media bring up those settings show my 13900-14900k performance using faster ram with my 4090 at that resolution and exact settings. Well the fanboys get pretty quite and cannot keep at steady 6X-9X FPS with a Frametime of 8.X-17.Xms in that same exact area in Cyberpunk 2077. I am just like I told you, then they try to say DLAA+PT is overrated lol. I am like well it's a single player game, I didn't buy a 4090 to turn down my settings on single player games, I also won't use my 7800x3d because well it makes the game unplayable in spots with the same gpu, resolution and settings. FYI don't use the benchmark it's not accurate to gameplay like at all, there are more demanding spots in the game than that benchmark before Phantom Liberty. Go to that spot in the game I mentioned in Dog Town with the bar and the tree, start off at the balcony, facing the tree, then start from the balcony, walk down walk around the tree looking around, move your mouse rapidly, then do it again but sprinting also starting in the same spot. Yeah dude that benchmark for that game does not exactly reflect the more demanding spots in game, especially the new expansion area haha.

Great video showing the relevancy of 12th gen. The wife's system has a 12900k in it, while mine has a 13900k... both with the same GPU's. Honestly, in gaming - can't really say I notice any "actual" differences in performance/playability - although no doubt there's some frame rate improvements on my system. The 12900k was and still is a great CPU... if you own one, I honestly wouldn't even consider moving to a 13th or 14th... the slight improvements in memory speed and clock speeds on 13th/14th gen probably isn't worth it in a gaming scenario - spend the money on a better GPU instead, as the 12900k is still more than capable.

I own a real 4:3 1440p CRT monitor, can do 60Hz 1440p or i push it to 85Hz or 75Hz for a lower res. If i do interlacing it's +140Hz. The problem with current monitors is the lack of BFI, they always look blurry in motion, LCDs at 165Hz, OLEDs at 240Hz, etc. They all look worse than my CRT at 60 and at 75Hz and beyond is like a natural motion blur on. Refresh rates alone are missleading, 60Hz on an LCD and OLED have nothing to do with a CRT or Plasma TV. Current QD OLED monitors are so overrated and overpriced by the lack of BFI alone. Only the Samsung S90C QD 4K OLED TV impressed me: 144Hz, has BFI, 1300 nits of brightness. Same colors as my 955DF Samsung 19inch CRT.

Not all simracing... iRacing, which is probably most popular and competitive title does not favor AMD and often it's a situation of AMD higher average, intel better minimum. But this game also has very old DX11 engine and use only few threads, out of which probably only 1-2 do cpu rendering. Intel's high clocks and IPC do decent job there. But when it comes to titles on more modern engines (i.e. Assetto Corsa Competizione on Unreal), the 3D cache seems to make it better. There is also another story, where most of the most competitive simracers use triples or ultrawides (32:9) often using multiple viewports, so CPU gets an additional beeating and in this scenario nvidia GPUs steal the show with SMP (or SPS for VR) - it takes a lot of rendering load from CPU. With AMD GPUs you can't use that and CPU has to render 3 frames sepearately each time.

7800x3d is slower with 6400 megatransfers than with 6000. The difference is not big, it's somewhere around 5 percent, but it's there. The Infiniti factory is running at a lower speed and this is causing the lag! However, it is especially noticeable if there is a large loading of textures, then the difference can reach 10% And about the 9950x, it will be a while before the software is ready for it to know how much better it is than the 7950x... However, a must clean install option like the x3d chips! Check out the recommendations! Otherwise, you risk losing almost 40 of the performance!

Hardware unboxed did some bencmarking recently with Ryzen chips and then noticed Win11 alone nerfs the AMD cpu performance around 6-10% if not running on Admin rights, this affects 7xxx and 9xxx series both. Talk about bad software support from Microsoft. I also agree on the Infinity fabric thing against 6400 vs 6000, if you go unsynced IF what is not 1:1, it's actually the reason he sees any dips (especially if he would subtiming tune the ram). But sadly it's never completely neutral testing, everyone has their favorites so these 'unknowns' usually give out these disparities.

I'm sorry, there is always one 😁😁Im on a i9 12900k, 12gen 'allegedly' not affected, hmmm i have my doubts. My 12900k was rock solid, but over the last couple of months all the BSOD's that the 13/14th gen have suffered, I have experienced . I literally gave up troubleshooting and was about to buy a 14th gen setup. I have switched out gpus and memory but no go. Just random BSOD errors. My cpu has been rock solid for years, but now, even at stock, random crashes. Even upgraded to latest windows, still a lottery. Im not gaming, but more crunching video with Resolve or Topaz

AMD fanboys like to say how much faster the 7800X 3D is vs anything from Intel while in reality, if you know how to tune Intel and give the CPU some fast 7600+ low latency ram, it makes it really close or ahead of the 7800X 3D at times.

Why cant you tune an AMD chip to be even better?
@Solrac-Siul2 ай бұрын
there are 3 major issues , 1- silicon variance in the 7800x3d and/or the amd motherboards, and many cannot go beyond 7200 ddr5. Keep in mind that AMD recommends ddr5 6000 for it;s ddr5 cpus and so there has been limited incentive for motherboard manufacturer's to push amd board capable of handling 7200+. 2- 3dcache cpus normally have diminutive returns in regards ram overclock and in some cases can even lose performance as latency increases with ram speed, what can slow the transfer of data to the cache. As such generally 6400 or so is the sweet spot for x3d cache. with intel the sweet spot for ram is the fastest that can be achieved while stable. 3- the 12900K is a fully unlocked processor, what gives the user a considerable margin to tune and Overclock while the 7800x3d doesn't inherently support OC mode. You can still manually overclock the cpu but some care is necessary as overclocking generally increases temperatures and stacked x3d cache does not react well to heat , being the reason why AMD put some limits in regards manually tuning and overclocking.
@Kankipappa2 ай бұрын
@@Solrac-Siul You can still gain up really good low % framerates by tuning your RAM subtimings, and using -30 on curve optimizer usually means you can have 5050MHz all core boost on games more or less with less avg power usage. Plus on AMD side It's the RAM latency timings on defaults instead that give all the dips on the framerates on non-X3D chips, not total RAM speed as the Infinity Fabric can't follow that high. Using poor default RAM subtimings doesn't make the X3D chip immune to the low dips problem, it just happens less often due to bigger cache. So to have it somehow tuned, it's always best to at least get "bullzoid's default" ddr5 settings for cl30 6000MHz ram if nothing else. The curve optimizer also gives around 200-300MHz allcore boost on non gaming benchmarks, so it's nice to do it anyway.
