it's much simpler to connect regulator's common to voltage divider between output and ground - you can find this schematics in voltage regulator's datasheet...

Is there any method to increase output current to 3-5 amps using lm7805 ?

2A max on those regulators. Most common is 1A and most practical for smoothest DC is to keep it under 500ma
