The ripping or hitting action is on the ball carriers emphasis. Now, with regards to slapping rather than tackling and hitting a ball out of your opponents hands, thats clearly a different action. The knock on is from White player because he had control and then lost control because of good defense from blue player. If knock on is from blue player then surely a penalty try is awarded because of clear stopping of try illegally. But because White player knocks on he had control and then lost control thus knock-on by white I don't know why that rule ever changed. Player has control of ball, then loses control. Automatic turnover. Why is it becoming controversial now? That was never a try because White player didn't place the ball on the ground. He dropped it. But it should never be a question of whose ball is it now. It's blue ball of course because White player lost the ball. Then No.7 kept complaining at the ref. Okey just leave the ref to confirm his decision. Also the TMO does what he can to allow the ref to make his decision. In my opinion the ref makes the right call. White loses ball down, hence knock on, no try to Ulster but rather scrum 5 to Stormers. Whatever happens after that bears no direct relation to that decision.

Those that think it should be a Ulster 5m scrum, means the ball never went forward from the ulster player, which inevitably would be a try as the player ended over the line with the ball. With the ball being dislodged by the stormers, clearly going "Forward" from the Stormers player(whether or not he hit the hand of the Ulster player is irrelevant, as both teams can't knock the ball forward at the same time), as the Ref asks if it should be a scrum to white, there is not a clear and obvious knock on by white... Secondly, watch every replay you like, The Stormers player never retreats behind the goal line, which is your offside line at that ruck. An offside player stopping a try, surprised none of the officials picked up on that... Unlucky Ulster, should have been a try in my opinion...
