Some of the GPIO boards from this video are in my giveaways channel in Discord, along with links to buy one as well.

I forgot to mention that flipc.org will only show an "Install" button in certain browsers (like Chrome and Edge). For other browsers, like Firefox you will only have a download link. If you download instead; you can copy the .FAP files into a subfolder of "SD Card/apps/" in qFlipper - for example "SD Card/apps/Sug-GHz/spectrum_analyzer.fap" (be sure to use the "apps" folder or else it won't show up). If you have a lot of FAP files to install, putting the SD Card in your computer and copying there is a faster method. My Discord server is discord.com/invite/NsjCvqwPAd with monthly giveaways and lots of people helping each other out.

I forgot to show what happens when you press the Right arrow key! Each Flipper is assigned a unique name and it starts at level 1. With official firmware there are 3 total levels. You increase the level by doing various dolphin deeds each day, such as using your Flipper Zero as an infrared remote. Here was a video I had made when I finally got my Flipper to Level 2 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ-rlZKYq8qFfNE There is a really cool transition screen, maybe I'll have to make a video on that some time soon. Also, I didn't directly show Bluetooth pairing, but I did show the app store which installed over Bluetooth. Let me know if there is anything else I forgot!

Use as an emergency backup remote for tv/surround system makes this totaly worth it.
@MrDerekJamison Жыл бұрын
Somehow the remote gets misplaced but the Flipper is easy to find (maybe because I'm the only one that uses it or because it the only electronics in that color?) With custom firmware the IR database is larger (which is good because it works on even more devices) but it's bad in that it may take longer to find the device that is your TV. Making a custom remote is probably the easiest solution. There is a remote app as well, "IR Remote" in Flipc.org which gives you instant access to 11 buttons (short/long press of d-pad). Clicking on the author name takes you to the readme to configure the text file.

@@MrDerekJamison except I haven't got it yet. And then I need a functional P.C. With internet to set it up. Suffice it to say I have a long may to go.

@@sideswipe147Mine didn't come with an SD Card, which you will need to do most things. I typically just use a 32GB card, but I've heard of people that larger like 128GB cards. You should be able to use a phone with BLE to set it up -- docs.flipper.net/mobile-app
@sideswipe147 Жыл бұрын
@@MrDerekJamison no idea what BLE is… probably need a rooted phone for that... which again I don't. No worries though… as they say, slowly keep moving the football forward. It is my understanding that it is best to restrict choice of sd card to SDHC. (see I have been reading and watching videos "learning") no big deal. Honestly I probably have some spares kicking around the house. I grew up on DOS so I have a bit of a start there? But my linux is admittedly almost nonexistant. IIRC the expression goes something like... Hardware: whips/cuffs Software: lace/garters Firmware: ...oh hell you figure it out

@@sideswipe147 well, it you were able to get your SoundBlaster working back in the day, then I’m sure you will get this working too. My Discord (you can install Discord on phone) has lots of people to help answer questions. Invite link on my about page on KZbin. Nothing special required on phone to install Flipper app. Lots you can do without coding, but if you want to code then you need PC with internet. My videos are all done in windows. My code playlist walks thru the process.

Just waiting to get mine and this will be a great video for starting out. Thanks Derek!

At some point, I'd like to do a video on the different way to install apps (beyond just flipc and the hub, like uFBT, FBT, pre-built FAB files, etc.) I'd also like to do a video on the different firmware choices too. Do you have anything in particular you want to do with the Flipper Zero?

what is the name of stock firmware? im trying to buy an ir range booster and the website needs my firmware for it to be compatible edit: i tried searching but nothing came up, just reddit pages of people buying it and asking other questions that dont answer my question
@MrDerekJamison11 ай бұрын
I would think you would want an IR range booster that allowed you to switch between firmware & download new app/patches later? New versions of firmware are always coming out, so and FAP or patch files they give you are unlikely to work on firmware 4-6 months from now. I've heard it called by the name "Official", "OFW" and "Stock". The other 3 most popular maintained firmware are "RogueMaster", "Unleashed" and "Xtreme". The IR range booster should tell you if it's a 3v3 or 5v device and which GPIO pins they use to transmit IR signals. What that technical data, you should be able to ask about getting it work work in whatever firmware you own.

If you have any follow-up questions for the booster, feel free to join my Discord server at discord.com/invite/NsjCvqwPAd and post a question in the "#infrared" channel.

I just ordered an IR blaster. I think by default Official doesn’t support external IR? Once I get an IR blaster I’ll try it out. I might have to make a patch to enable it. Feel free to reach out in Discord.
