79 Lil Red Express first start from winter storage muscle truck d150 d100 dodge truck spring dustoff

After thinking about it more, that interstate battery is more than 15 years old.... crazy. 1979 Lil Red Express first start in 6 months. Spring dust off and cruise. All original drivetrain, never been rebuilt. 42k original miles. Interior is all original not restored. I repainted the truck, redid the wood and decals 20+ years ago.

I have always been a Ford man, I'm 50, but this is the one truck I would have traded any of my mustangs for, not cause it was faster but because it looks and sounds tough and mean. I think this is the most beautiful truck EVER made. Congratulations this truck never got the respect it deserves.

Good looking ol Lil Red. Too bad the OE wheels are gone. Mine has the bucket seats and no dome light. There is a Lense but no where to put a bulb.

The wheels are not gone. They’re in my basement with the original tires still on them. Have two sets and the original spare that’s never been touched the road or been mounted. My warlock has the buckets, they look much cooler but to me the bench is more comfortable. Thats weird about the dome light!

Just prior to storage I'd recommend the gas tank be filled to the top and when filling add a bottle of fuel stabilizer. This will prevent rust and fuel degradation and condensation buildup. Also do an oil & filter change prior to storage. If you only drive it in summer you could just bypass the heater core all together.

Yes I add stabilizer before storage. The gas tank in these trucks are plastic, but the fuel sending units are still prone to rust. The heater core is bypasses now, but I enjoy driving late into fall and early spring so I’ll be replacing it soon. Thanks for watching!
