The Middle & Nether Wallop Walk
On this pretty Hampshire walk we follow the Wallop Brook from Middle Wallop to Nether Wallop ( What the heck is a Wallop 😁) find out on the video as we also discover the connections with Egypt, Agatha Christie, W G Grace , the tri services and the brightest talents of the 1980's.
We also view the finest collection of thatched cottages outside of St Mary Mead and you don't have to be Miss Marple to find them 🙂

My grandparents used to live in a cottage on the Nether Wallop/Broughton parish boundary. I remember Wallop with Mr Hinwood's shop (the Old Post Office), the blacksmith's and the pig farm almost in the middle of the village. Lovely.

Thank you. It's a shame the little post office stores are closed now but that seems to be the way of things these days, even in towns.

A lovely wander through Nether Wallop, thank you. Delighted to see you use the footpath by The Splash Hollow (I used to own that property) as all the time I lived there I never saw anyone use the footpath!!! PS: there’s a spelling error in the video title 😉

just love the Wallops , used to drive through on our way home, theres a road through where the trees from both sides of the road form a sort of tunnel , I always imagined sitting in an oldfashioned carriage at night, foggy, eerie creepy , Horrorfilm, so wonderful..typical english ..

Hammer Horror stuff 🙂 The churchyard has an atmosphere about it in Nether Wallop I think it the fact the church is 1000 years old an of course the creepy pyramid 🙂

When showing the pyramid memorial in this video, you mentioned Mad Jack Fuller and his pyramid at Brightling. He is said to be an ancestor of mine. My maternal grandmother was a Miss Fuller.

For the best experience of the area I'd hire a car if I were you and you've got great choices of where to stay. Winchester ancient capital of England and seat of King Alfred or Salisbury which holds a copy of magna carta both have beautiful cathedrals and river walks or Stockbridge a beautiful one street village on the old Ox Drove where it crosses the river Test. Hope you have a great time.and a happy 50th.
