79 Series Safari Armax Snorkel Install, replace factory one - 79 Cruiser Build Series

One of the first mods I try and do to any off road vehicle. Not only will it help with water crossings etc, but a bigger snorkel will help get more clean air into the engine, helping with HP and hopefully fuel economy. It's a bit daunting cutting into the fender and not for the faint hearted!

First thing my dad and I did on our 2019 VDJ79. Changed the "raised air intake" that came from factory with an Armax

Hi Mate, thanks for the comment. Honestly, I haven't notice much of a difference in either. The main reason I installed it was more for water and dust ingress. The factory one doesn't really seal half way along it, making creek crossing etc a bit more risky. Thanks for watching! Richard

I had mine installed. Didn't notice any power or fuel economy increases, but at 40k, still allowing for engine run in.

Is the snorkel n box water tight?. Was no sikaflex needed? Either on the snorkel joins or the airbox? Did u just leave the drain hole in the bottom of the airbox as is? Good vidya 👌👌👌, can i suggest u invest in a cheap lavalier mic or something. Hard to hear what ur talking bout.

Thanks mate! Actually was using RODE wireless mics, however the input jack on the Sony stopped working after the first intro. Had to use the GoPro for audio for the rest. Need to get it fixed. The snorkel is watertight, I ran 3 beads of sikaflex around both the air box and the new inlet, plus it’s pop rivited with external plates that all come in the kit. I ended up sealing up the drain hole too, with more sika. Should be all good. Was a great kit to install, really well thought out, easy for a hack like me to do! Thanks for watching 👍
