79. The Most Excellent Path, Part 1, with Thomas Keating

God doesn’t just show love, but God is love. In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul talks about the charismatic gifts of the Spirit, different gifts given to individuals which are meant to serve the entire community. The next chapter, 1 Corinthians 13, is Paul’s great exhortation on love. He calls this way of love the most excellent path. It’s the path of the spiritual journey where we grow in love and let go of our attachments. It’s the path where we consent to receive the gift of inner transformation, where the divine life is transmitted to each one of us and then transmitted to the community, not so much through action but through being.

The videos in the course include most of the videos in the original five-part video series, shortened to include the most essential parts of those talks. In addition, the course videos include excerpts from other series, including four that Fr. Thomas recorded every three years in his latter years, which have not previously been released on KZbin: "Heartfulness," "The Gift of Life," "God is Love," and "That We May Be One." He considered these four series to be, in effect, parts 6 through 9 of the original five-part series.

I had not a clue what the contemplatives & mystics like Father Keating were talking about until it happened to me around year 25 of pain and suffering. The connection occurred like a spark of light deep within my soul and I heard the still small voice of the holy spirit. Now I hear and see what true freedom is.
