I'm long gone from Harbour View Road, moved to the sunny south east in Youghal but born and bred in the North Side. All my family are from Graun and Churchfield. JDs recovery, Gerry Dalton, Deccy Dalton. We have Alot to be proud of in Knocknaheeny. Another example is the great John O'Shea flying in the darts side. Fair play to you Thomas, and fair play to ye two boys. Salt of the earth! X

Lads...came across your podcasts a couple of weeks ago, could listen for hours. From the Southside, left Cork in 90 and still go home very year. P.S Thomas mentions Michael English, HR Manager, if he's the same fella, was a good friend of my dads, drank at Flannery's in Glasheen.

Fantastic Podcast. Yes, still a stigma with social housing, and yes Irish was thought with the wrong structure in schools back in the day. Thomas came across very well in fairness and is proud of his roots. I would vote for him but I am Togher-based. Well done Lads, top-notch like.

Great show this was, Tommy knows his stuff. He did great stuff over the years for the youth in Knocka, Hollyhill, Gurran, and Churchfield. The likes of himself, Keith Ricken, and Vincey stokes, keeping lads busy 3 nights a week up the field training, and you would have 1 or 2 games at the weekend than... i used love Monday nights down the complex behind knockas school, indoor ground hurling with the rubber boss hurley's, about 30 lads from the local area going hell for leather for about 2 hours only 1 rule no rising the ball,,, great crack and great times. Im going back nearly 20 years ago now, P.s ask Tommy have Vincents got a Junior B team going this year haha 💪

Tommy hit the nail on the head, when he explained that when people want treatment they want it immediately. That there, is a window of opportunity, but all too often the waiting times don't allow for this. I appreciate that waiting indicates a determination, but sometimes that lack of immediate help can and does lead to increased frustration and consequently increased use, which can lead to death. I thank you all for your service once again and to Tommy for giving us a voice with Sinn Fein's policy development "A Charter For Recovery" let's hope we have more candidates in place for the next election hey.

Trying to access help for loved ones in addiction even when the person is crying out for it is something no one can possibly understand unless they have been there. It's can actually kill you the stress of it I believe and tear you apart emotionally, physically and mentally. I have walker that road and I would not wish it on anybody. That man is a gentleman and he is like myself and many others who never turn off their phone.

Love this talk. I grew up working with animals and farming and my dad worked with Drinagh Co Op so I know all about farmers and collected the milk 7 mornings a week. I heard so many stories and as you say its all about meeting people and listening to people and their life experiences. Keep up the talking. Yes voting is a necessary as those who died for the right to vote should not be forgotten.

I went up to Beaumont after having a break from reality, I was looking for someone to talk to but they just prescribed me olanzapine and set another date to talk to him again which was like 3 or 4 months away. I just wanted to talk to someone and they wouldn’t let me have a therapist to talk to you know. I ended up having a full mental breakdown 11 months to that date. Just on Christmas. Now I most likely have schizophrenia as I still have psychotic symptoms 2 years later. All I wanted was someone to talk to, anyways happy Christmas 🎄

Fine interview. Interesting to hear the republican history on the northside as well as what life was like there in the 80s.

Deputy Gould, You seem to be a fine Northsider. Do Knocka and all those in the Cork North Central region a favour and go the Independent route next time around ' cause Sinn Fein ain't no different from FFG.
