I am a product of mountain bikes of 40-odd years ago. Yup, those handlebars. Iconic. [Still have my Panasonic from 1988 A hardtail's hardtail.] The one thing essentially retro missing from this Priority? Brown skinwalls a la Panaracer. On 26-inch wheels. :P PS Yup. We spoke chainring.

I ride a Raleigh Redux. However I swapped out the tires so I can go on trails. I can see retro rigid bikes making a comeback in the near future. Not that you can ride the same kind of trails as an Enduro. I just think people will enjoy a return to simplicity. Plus if you can still send it on a rigid bike you will look like a badass.

Everything old is new again. Google 1985 Schwinn High Sierra. Same handlebars on what they called All Terrain Bicycles. I'm lovin my old school Murray next on the list is a Schwinn. For a second bike or a jalopy the parts are everywhere, possibly free if you hit a city wide cleanup, and you'll learn a ton. Our local bike shop is expanding to a new location he got started by selling used parts. The Murray just got an upgrade to the Shimano Flat Face derailleur off a Mongoose. That thing never had it so good. Herculite frame. Bikes are fun without the front shock.

When it comes time to change gear ratios it will likely cost half again as much as the new bike. The belt drive is a solution for a problem that does not exist. They do break and when that happens..... you could be stranded for some time.

So single speed mountain biking is a real thing...there are even race categories for it, not just on "XC" trails, but on more challenging MTB trails. There are many benefits to it, and skills to gain from it....KZbin it, and then try it before you knock it. That said, The Sauce is not made for that kind of riding. I've been riding my new SAUCE for a few weeks now. It is an awesome bike for it's intended purpose(S). Does it have limitations? Yes. Would I ride this on the same blue and black trails that I ride my MTB on? No. With a gear ratio of 57.5 gear inches, it is geared pretty tough for that, but it is geared fairly well for most green trails, if you know how/not too lazy to stand up and pump the bike when needed. The belt drive is fantastic, smooth and should last about 3 times as long as a chain. Out in the desert where I live, the belt can squeak a bit, but spraying it with a silicone lubricant occasionally solves that. With rust proof and rust resistant parts, it is the perfect bike for a "rainy day around the neighborhood" type of ride. As far as it's frame, fork and overall weight, it is a light and nimble bike. The suggestions on the Priority website for riding this thing is pretty accurate based upon my experience: Light MTB trails, pump track, gravel and pavement are all doable and FUN! The dropper post option is cool, but again, you shouldn't take this on trails that you'd usually need a dropper on. Quick release axels won't ever happen on a bike from NYC (too easy to steal parts), but thru axels on the next "SAUCEX" iteration would be a good idea. Nice work Priority, this thing fits many niches all by itself!

How do I get that handlebar!!??
@guitarlessonsnow34317 ай бұрын
Dunno, nice idea, but price seems a bit steep, considering the deals you can get on mtbs right now. If it were $599 I’d be tempted. Btw, if you want an “about town” bike, get a Schwinn hardtail and change out the rear wheel for one that can take a proper cassette. Decent frame, and Schwinn logo makes it less appealing to thieves…

Question to everybody I want to hear do you think this would be a good bike to make him to a front-wheel e-bike? Also I'm 300 lb actively trying to get down to 240, so my other concern is do you think you can take the weight up hills? And I know the rear-wheel-drive would be better or mid drive but I think the easiest for me to do would be front.

Their tagline should be *Less is Less for More* Designed in NYC - Tested in NYC is all fine and good for a bike for NYC or Florida. Beach town rentals is probably an excellent use case for these bikes. But most places aren't like NYC. Most cities and suburbs are loaded with hills, some of them quite steep. 46 tooth drive sprocket 22 tooth driven sprocket is only about 1 to 2, so the pedaling won't be that bad, but still not good for steep hills. Very suitable for flat downtown areas or NYC or Florida. Not so good for the rest of the city. What could fix this aspect is an internally geared hub. At least a 3 speed with an under-drive gear. If they could supply this with a geared hub and keep the price point the same, I think they would have a winner for commuting (it still won't be a mountain bike) WHY is there provisions for a friggin dropper post? This is not a mountain bike and attempting to use it as a mountain bike on anything harsher than a non-paved gravel surface will likely involve a visit to the ER (their promotional videos notwithstanding).. A suspension fork is absolutely necessary for even an entry level mountain bike. Hitting a root or jagged rock at a decent speed will cause you to lose control of the bike. You cannot design this out. We have suspensions for a reason and not to just to keep engineers busy. You had better have a lift because you ain't pedaling this thing up a mountain. It's a shame because while Priority is a premium brand who makes good stuff, this bike, I think is looking for a market. Hipsters may like it. But of course, most hipsters are city dwellers likely to live near the downtown (flat) area.
