I looked up this Huffy rock creek and it's showing me a completely different bike everywhere. No shocks on the other Rock Creek

you can pick up an 11-28 freewheel for these which helps a ton with top speed, but I do wish they came with a regular modern cassette.

L-Twoo has been making noise the last 2 years. This is the first I have seen it stock on a bike. Wonder how long before their electronic makes it to a walmart bike.

I’m 6’1, don’t think a XL would be a good size or too big? Or should I stick with a large?

Iam perplexed about the dual rear reflectors? and only one quick release? although if I had son, this wouldn’t be a bad starter bike just saying..

Question - if I put a (much) longer seatpost and BMX handlebars on this 24, will it work as a geared pseudo-BMX? (I'm 5'3")

Great looking bike ! I do like the new colors. Still riding my Axum . Almost 2 years. Upgrades including micro-shift gear set,new stem and Maxxis Hookworm tires. I'm trying to sell it. Since I am partially disabled and getting old I want a good electric bike. Thanks Kev for your great content and informative videos.

This Axum Sport is worse than the old $349 Taff Comp which was on sale for $129. Taff Comp comes a single-bolt seat post.

A smaller bike has a lower weight limit, I went to a Walmart today, the bikes outside, half had a popped Balloon 🎈 tires with the valves angled which is not good.

Is that lower headset cup not pressed in all the way? Those brake levers are knock-offs of the Avid FR-5.

The size of the bike has absolutely nothing to do with brakes. A bicycle or car rolling at a particular speed has a particular amount of energy regardless of the size. A 160 rotor is a 160 rotor no matter how fast or slow it is rotating. It has to convert X number of joules over Y number of seconds regardless of the wheel speed.
@KevCentral
@KevCentral 2 күн бұрын
I wasn’t making any statements about the effectiveness. I was saying the 160mm rotors looked physically larger than they are when looking at them on smaller wheels
@tarstarkusz
@tarstarkusz 2 күн бұрын
You can't go by the gearing when comparing bikes with different rim sizes. This will be much easier to climb than the 29er and have a lower top speed than the 29er. One rotation of a 24" wheel is less than 1 rotation of a 29" wheel. The number of feet 1 rotation of the wheel goes is less for a 24" wheel.
@KevCentral
@KevCentral 2 күн бұрын
That’s why I said younglings won’t have problem climbing or getting up some speed. The gearing will work well for this bike

I've noticed the rims use a steel hub so to upgrade you'll be better off switching out whole rim and hub.Heavy as hell rims no matter if frame is aluminum

Schwinn is definitely a good deal. I am still rocking my boundary. A few small upgrades and I use it for everything including bike packing adventures. I do wish I had the dropper post routing like this bike but I don't. I make due with a suspension seat post and it works nicely. I also went retro and put a set of classic bar ends on. I forgot how much They rock. Safe travels.

It is cool that you donate those bikes! I teach high school Ag at Pisgah, over in Jackson County, in NE Alabama. A couple of years ago, we started a bike project, where we take bikes that are donated to us from the public and I let my students repair/restore them. Once they are repaired, we then donate them to things such as foster care, foster care closets, churches that have kids needing bikes, even to some of our own students. This project accomplishes a few things; it teaches my students some basic mechanics, it also gives my students the example of serving their community, and finally it gets bikes into the hands of kids that might otherwise do without!

Poor value in today’s market. For the amount you’ll spend on upgrades, might as well get something that’s better straight out of the box. Brakes on these bikes are downright dangerous in my experience (upgraded my Boundary to BB7s , which actually work!). Rockhopper Sport comes to mind as something safer with decent specs for the money. Also, please don’t encourage trail riding on this bike - it’s dangerous as it is.
