I have purchased the TTartisan 35 F1.4 after watching your video. I think it’s crazy how a quality lens like that could cost so little.

Yes. The review is now about 3 years old but I think it still is maybe the best of these low-budget lenses ever!

Thanks for another excellent video. These manual focus lenses are fun. I only have a couple of TT lenses so far, I also like the clicks.

Actually we have a lot of choices now. So even though they all are great value, you still can be „picky“ about your own choice!

Oh yes another…so when you compare this to the Ttartisan 23mm 1.4 and the Kamlan 21mm..which one is the winner in your opinion?
@tomscameras
@tomscameras Жыл бұрын
I'm working on a direct comparison. In terms of sharpness, the Kamlan 21/1.8 will be the best of these lenses.

Very well structured review! Thanks for the video, Thomas! I have 7artisans 35mm 0.95, which seems to be similar to this 24mm in build. I really like to handle it, feel it in the hands. Agree about clickless aperture ring... My 35 isn't sharpest as well, but I think for 24 1.4 they could have done better. Still, you have created pleasing pictures regardless of sharpness. Do you think you would have a chance to test and review a Voigtlander 23mm 1.2? Would be interesting to compare to Chinese 23/24/25mm. Also, what lens was used to capture you? Thanks! Prosperity and good health to you!

Thanks for your comment. I do like the 7Artisans 35/0.95 a lot, it's one of their best lenses! I have to give the Voigtländer lenses a try. There are now three of them. I've seen pretty mixed reviews so far though. But again, I didn't have the opportunity yet to shoot any of them myself!

Can you please make a vid on using old M42 pancake lenses (like the Industar 50mm) on mirrorless cams? In times of inflation its only good to know how to use older lenses.
@tomscameras
@tomscameras Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your suggestion! All the old lenses work in a very similar way (with adapter) on mirrorless cameras, so it doesn't matter so much if M42, Pentax K, Olympus or LTM etc. ... but yes, a video about this topic is a great idea! I'll look into it ...!
@photomukund
@photomukund Жыл бұрын
@@tomscameras yes. However, m42 is interesting because it allows one to experience most German and Russian innovations before the Japanese took over. There are Japanese M42 lenses too, but the real quality stuff was found mainly in Germany (Zeiss Tessar, Pentacon) and Russia (Helios, Jupiter, Industar). Looking forward to what you do with those :)

Tom, could you please recommend me some manual lens 20 mm. or 24mm. (apsc) which is have character similar as tt artisan 35mm. F1. 4, thank you so much
@tomscameras
@tomscameras 11 ай бұрын
Hey, that's actually not the most easy question … the TT Artisan 35/1.4 is a pretty outstanding lens! Most of the affordable manual focus lenses in the 20...25mm range don't match the 35 so far ... Personally I love my TT Artisan 25/2, yes this is *ultra* cheap but I don't feel the 23/1.4 or 7Artisans 24/1.4 are that much better, so the 25/2 is just a no brainer if you ask me. Compact and good enough for most uses. I also can recommend the Kamlan 21/1.8 which is a very sharp lens, it has very good optics! I've got reviews of all these in my channel. Hope this helps!

I bought the 35mm f1.2 and was quite impressed so got the 25mm f1.8 as well… but that lens is just junk! I want to get rid of it but don’t even want to sell it as I’ll feel bad for the person buying it! Anyway, this one does look like an improvement

The 25/1.8 is one of the oldest designs of those Chinese lenses for mirrorless cameras. Basically, they started by modifying super-cheap C mount lenses (which are made for surveillance cameras) to sell them for mirrorless system cameras. Those 25/1.8s were one step beyond a simple C mount lens, but still didn't offer the quality that we're used to today with these lenses. I think they came a long way since then, quality and designs have improved a lot!

In FF terms that only makes it a 36mm f2
@brian576
@brian576 Жыл бұрын
@@VictorVonVulfgang That's why he said in FF terms. A 24mm f1.4 on a crop sensor produces images similar to a 36 f2.1 on a full frame sensor.
@tomscameras
@tomscameras Жыл бұрын
Yes, APS-C 24/1.4 equals 36/2.1 on full frame (both f-stop and focal length x 1.5); I think it's fair to round this to 35mm f/2. I think it's a great spec for a lens at this price point. There is a 7Artisans 25/0.95 for APS-C out there that equals an f/1.4 on full frame, but that one is a *huge* lens. It seems it's harder to make an f/0.95 than an f/1.4, no matter which sensor size. So if you absolutely lust for a "true" 35/1.4, then I'd always suggest you use a full-frame camera; there are some nice options for full-frame 35/1.4's out there these days. But all those will be more than 109 USD brand-new though ;)
