First thing first.. Great review. I've had this set for nearly 1 month and to be honest, I'm impressed. The tonal balance is just really great. Some people say this can sound shouty and even lacking bass (what?), but for me the overall sound is just right and I've never got any complain for those things. For the price, I'm sure this is the best you can get currently. Although, sometimes I do wish the upper mid could get a bit push and more intimate since I have a lot of pop songs. I really like intimate vocals. And I've just noticed this set can get quite revealing - meaning if it's paired with bad audio file nor bad source, it can really show them as what they are, without much coloration (if that's a right term). I don't know if you or other folks have experienced the same or not.

Hi 🙂, I also use spinfit cp100+ on my salnotes, even though the stock tips had a good sound for me (nothing wrong with them, I used that turquoise color bass tips) I realised sound differences with the spinfits, very slightly less bass but better centre image (vocals were pulled more in between my eyes within the stage with the cp100+). The cp100+ actually gave me more bass and improved clarity with my kinera nanna 2.0 compare to the final /bass E-typs which is quite interesting. So slightly less bass with the salnotes zero, but slightly more bass with the kinera 2.0. But I cant agree with your one statement that the salnotes zero has lesser clarity than the ikko oh10, the clarity of the background instruments of the salnotes zero is flagship level and I kid you not. On the budget iems the background instruments can be a little smeared, not the case of the salnotes zero. The only advantage of the flagship iems over the salnotes really is better timber and maybe slightly better detail (in some cases) and better design to handle busy passages in the music. In generall I agree with ur opinion about the salnotes though 🙂

@@hackinghifi4247 yeah actually salnotes zero (in my original comment I wrote it wrong by mistake) has better clarity that the ikko oh10 it is really flagship level (background clarity). So for slow accoustic music they are killer. Be you I would keep the oh10 because of the bass and hybrid design (ability to better handle busy passages maybe). But the sound of the salnotes is very clear without being thin or overly sharp especially with the cp100+.

ABOUT "Hacking HiFi" HIS EVALUATIONS/REVIEWS ARE so REALITY so TOUCHING REAL LIFE so CORRECT so ACCURATE so FULL SPECTRUM One of the best reviewers for me❤ Let me explain: I ve (read reviews but more importantly) listen to sound demo s of Moondrop Chu and 7hz Salnotes Zero on youtube from the sound demos alone Zero sounded sibilant/shouty/peaky(whichever is correct) + something wrong with tonality + thicker sound compared to Chu. But they condemned Chu and praised Zero. So i was always sceptic of those reviewers because i owned and liked the Chu. Reviewers said "Chu sounded bad/off and Zero sounded great" but it did not sounded like that to my ears and i thought they have no understanding of sound! But when i watched the video of "Haking HiFi" his descrition of Zero (which had matching pieces to what i percieved) + his comparison to Chu (which i would accept) then the merits of Zero he described r beliavable/reliable for me now. And i thought woow maybe Zero is really a good set may be i should give it a try. Now i get why everybody hypes it.....(no reviewer ever get me close to Zero: because they were talking so nonsense/empty + not matching my perception) And yes for any iem you buy you will most probably end in not usable stock tips and for the budget(20$set not usable stock cables) but no oneelse is talking about these either!!! And this GREAT GUY has only 789 subs????!!!! It should ve been 789,000.

that about the titan s is true , is very efficient to show you the characteristics of a song as they are, I was surprised that sometimes I was listening to purely vocal songs and then I change to one with very pronounced bass and delivers a very good job presenting both songs.With only the first hearing of the titan s, I knew that they would be better than the aria and the t3. I'll buy the zero ones, they look interesting and if you liked the titan s as much as I did (and I also recognize that the soudstage is not her strong point, but it's not bad either), I guess I'll love these too

@colinmartin9797

I kinda hate the chu's - they were the first I've listened to where the eartips were so wrong that they ruined the sound. I thought maybe I got a broken pair until I tried some sednafit xelastec tips and suddenly they woke up and sounded great - impressive technicals for $20. But they still just felt so claustrophobic. Personally, I'm much more of a headphone user, so that absolute lack of space made them really intensely unpleasant, like talking to someone who's way up in your personal space. I also liked the style and feel in the hand, but hated the cable with a burning passion. Overall, I just didn't see the point. So I grabbed the zero's after getting the 7hz diokos and absolutely falling in love with their planar magnetic slam and enormous soundstage. I was hoping these would just be a budget version of them. And they absolutely are. Imaging and soundstage for a $20 pair of IEM's is nothing short of spectacular. The tuning itself is good, the technicals are plenty adequate at the price, but that soundstage and imaging is really, really outstanding. "little brother to the dioko" is right on point, and a great idea to then sell someone on the upgrade to their more premium products. I went with blue since it felt like it wasn't trying to be premium looking, and I like the vibe. Stainless steel covers is a nice premium touch. The cable is far better. The earloops and thin design is nicer than the silicone wrapping of the chu's that won't stay wrapped up properly in your backpack. I agree that they really missed a detail they should have had by omitting a microphone. Even if it made then 25 cents more expensive, it would have been worth it. But it coils nicely and stays wrapped tightly, and being replaceable is a huge bonus. The eartip pack you get with them is far better than anything else at the price. It's the same pack as the dioko (minus one pair of tacky latex-like ones) and I had no problem finding a pair that fit. I normally kept the chu's around for beater status in my backpack, in case I needed some IEM's with a microphone for a lecture or the like. But now, I'm gonna give them away and switch to the zero's, which feel like they easily justify another $10 on a cable with a microphone. Absolutely the best pick right now for someone who needs a cheap/first pair of IEM's.

You may be right on the tips but with larger ear canals like I have I couldn’t get a seal even with the larger tips. I don’t think I’m some mutant so it’s confusing to me why I continue to have this issue with tips in the box. 😂 Thanks for watching! You’re spot on I think but the chus sound much better with a good pair of bass leaning tips.
@colinmartin9797
@colinmartin9797 2 жыл бұрын
@@hackinghifi4247 Oh no doubt, eartips are SUPER personal! I have very _medium_ canals. Sometimes a MS, sometimes an M, occasionally an ML tip is what's right. Spinfit makes some truly outstanding tips, their 1025's are the ONLY ones that can fit a lot of more odd shaped stuff like many TWS buds (the 1more comfobuds mini's have really uncomfortable tips, but the spinfits made them into all-day comfortable and still let them fit the case) I generally find a fitting pair of tips in the box of every IEM I try, but the spring tips in the chu's (which everyone seems to love) were just horrid for me, they straight up sounded broken. If you haven't tried the sednaearfit xelastec teps, I'd highly recommend giving them a try sometime - they're a slightly temperature sensitive elastomer that kinda combines the vibe of a silicone tip with a foam one. Easier to put in than foam, but brings up the bass, too. and +1 on the crinacle zero's, too. Also impressive soundstage, lots of good tips, nice cable, I just found them to be a little overbearing on the mid-bass. Kick drums can be intrusive. Also the stems are THICC. Almost uncomfortable for my ear canals. But they too punch well above their weight. If I didn't have the diokos already, I'd be happy with the 7hz zero's. But the diokos somehow scratch the same kind of itch as my custom Grado GS3000e's, which are about twenty times the MSRP. I don't really care about "personalities" tuning stuff, but the products Crinacle's put his name to have all been home runs for my taste. It's just nice to see a company like 7hz throw as many premium touches as humanly possible at the most budget price bracket. Here's looking forward to the first brand to bring some planar magnetics into the sub-$50 range.
@hackinghifi4247
@hackinghifi4247 2 жыл бұрын
@@colinmartin9797 for sure it’s a really fun time to be in the hobby! If you still have the Crinacle zeros I’d love it if you’d try something for me. I hated the spring tips because they made the mids higher than need be and the bass less in my opinion. They also seem to run a size small. So if you have medium ears try the large spring tips and throw them on the crinacle zeros. To me they bring everythiig into balance and sound great. Mids come forward and don’t sound unenergetic and recessed and the bass comes under control.
@colinmartin9797
@colinmartin9797 2 жыл бұрын
@@hackinghifi4247 I just tried it and oof, nope. The kick drum got tamed (I was using "Kickstart my Heart" by Motley Crue and "Bad Apple!!" by Richaadeb as my control) but everything else in the middle just felt hollowed out and the crash cymbals became piercing (and I like me some grado treble, this was just sibilant AF) I tried both the medium and large spring tips - I think there's just something about them that doesn't work at all with my head. I only realized they were ruining the Chu's when I was playing with them and tried the spring tips on my Diokos, only to discover they made those sound like booty. I also realized I was using the thicker latex-like eartips off my diokos with the crinacle zero's... So I switched back to the medium silicone tips they came with and that really did even everything out quite a bit. Guess I didn't really spend much time with the original tips. Only problem I run into with them is that the stems are just absolute cannons, so after an hour or two, basically every tip other than the foam ones put quite a bit of pressure on the inside of my ear canal once they're pushed in deep enough to "fit". But the foam tips ruin the soundstage and imaging. I still respect their vibe - Intrusive or not, the crossover they run lets them push some truly hedonistic bass, while keeping an impressive soundstage and great technicals. Also love the wide range of tips and the featherlight cable (but again, I think basically every IEM cable needs a mic/remote) I am more of a headphone nerd than IEM's, and I just kinda feel like maybe I've reached my endgame in the IEM side - the 7hz diokos just crush everything else I've tried, and the 7hz Zero's are genuine hifi at $20 (They can even showcase Bobby McFerrin properly, that's insane.) Unless something major changes, I just don't see myself needing to upgrade again on the IEM side of things. The only thing left on my radar are the fiio UTWS5's to make them TWS, otherwise the old BTR5 continues to be the portable workhorse. Which is just as well, just means more pennies saved for some Meze Empyreans, lololol. I'm picking up this cable for the zero's - It comes in 3 colors, each match one of the zero's. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08QZ48FTR/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2H7EJ1MF7MGUE&psc=1

Hello brother, i am more into clean instrumentals and vocal clarity in songs. I want to be able to hear the vocals crisp and even the instruments with clarity. Not much of a basshead though. I want to even enjoy music like the avengers portal soundtrack with the trumpets clear and all. I'm confused between CCA CRA and 7hz zero. This would be my 1st IEM. Could you help me with ur inputs in choosing between the two? Thanks...

You’re very kind thanks! Iems have come a long way in the last year. Price points have moved down for similar performance. The 7hz zero is very nice but can be fatiguing in the upper vocal range. I’d pair it with the QKZ hbb for a change of pass for something with a lot of bass and more laid back vocals. @@hackinghifi4247 Agreed; my S12's at $141 on sale have been a relative bargain considering the sound performance, build quality, fit. Case is nice, but a bit small. Otherwise, it's damn near perfect for me. Other IEM's that I found excellent at their resp. price are the Tripowin x HBB Olina ($99; modded with only insertion of the extra nozzle filter that came with the set), Tin HiFi T3+ (~$68), modded Heart Mirror (~$40; modded by adding a vent filter closest to the nozzle's base), and the TKZK Wave (~$40, w/aftermarket tips that slightly restrict the large nozzle, to reduce brightness slightly). Frankly, the S12's are my routine/mainstay IEM these days (i.e. personal endgame IEM). I am also using the TKZK Waves often...I like the tuning, fit and design of these hidden gems. Most of the other IEM's I purchased before getting the S12's have been collecting a bit of dust (e.g. KZ ZexPro/CRN, DQ6, CCA CRA, CCA NRA, KZ ZS10 Pro, Tripowin Lea).

With spin fit tips it becomes the hardest slamming bass iem I’ve listen to with relaxed mids and treble. It’s amazing for rock/rap - enter sandman where he’s hitting the Tom’s at the beginning made me smile it had such a sense of impact. You lose a little in the vocals through. With spring tips (buy a size up from what you’d buy with something else, I had to buy the xl) it becomes really nicely balanced with impactful bass but the mids and treble come back and are right in the pocket of where I like them. Don’t know if you can afford those at the moment but that’s what I’d recommend. If you can’t swing that the bl03 from blon is a good option but check out my review. It requires some tinkering for me. With the spring tips the truth ears sound pretty close to the oh10. They’re cheapest from a Chinese site like Linsoul.

It reaaaaally depends on which genres of metal! Heavy, thrash, prog and the Zeros are a perfect match. Death metal and its subgenres would need a tad more bass impact, I prefer the CRAs over the Zeros because of that fact (while the Zeros are objectively better, I just really enjoy the treble and bass boost of the CRAs :D). Think about wether you prefer a more clear and analytical signature (good for clean vocals, melodic riffs, shredding solos) or more bass&treble (good for grunts, blastbeats, 'heavier' and 'gnawier' rythm guitars). More on the Heavy Metal side: Zeros More on the Death/Extreme Metal side: CRAs Black Metal could go either way, there it just comes down to wether or not you like bass in your black metal This is, ofcourse, based on my own opinion and experiences I hope this was helpful, feel free to ask further questions

Cca cra or 7hz zeros for rock/metal music?

I'd take the zeros they have much better staging and instrument separation and a more balanced sound.

The chu are still excellent in their own right. You just may want to try some different tips with them if you aren’t getting a good bass response and the mids seem shouty. There’s always something new coming out in this hobby. 😀

@@ITSME-ys7hb love from USA! Blon bl03 has much more bass it is excellent for rock, metal, hip hop/rap etc. but for me require getting new tips for them to stay sealed in my ears. both of these sets (chu and zero) are more mid forward so the vocals are out front with the rest of the instruments and bass being behind the vocal range. If you’re interested in something with strong bass I’d recommend the truthears zero (same name it’s confusing) which has much bigger bass but it’s about $50.

Ye they are winner because of deattachable cable,but everything else kinda fail,and deattachable cables is must,since i have like dozen of deattacable cables and mmcx connectors,from some stupid reason drivers get blown much faster than cables get destroyed,plus amazing zeros have microphonics,even there isnt a microphone;)tried difrent cable,same nonsense,tried friends zero again microphonics,but hey,who gives a shit,bass is more important than clarity...

Definitely not my experience - didn’t hear any microphonics at all. Thanks for watching!

Might be a preference for you I like bass yes but I prefer more cleaner mids with great low end rumble in the sub bass And a nicer sparkly treble Which has no peeks shoutiness or sharp treble Only nicer relaxed treble I prefer more sub bass with bit boosted mids with cleaner sound
