It's hard to believe this was 14 years ago. I own a majority of your Blu-ray videos and I love that you are posting some of them on here. Your videos are by far the best quality and presentation of any rail fan videos that I have ever seen. Keep up the amazing work!

Stevens Pass home of Cascade Tunnel. To get trains through trains are staged at Scenic and at Berne and they have to go through one at a time every 15 minutes. The reason being is once a train goes through they have to purge the tunnel to get all the smoke out. At each bore is an intake pipe with giant fans located over the entrance. After the trains leave the doors on both sides of the mountain close and the signals turn red for 15 minutes while the smoke is pumped out. Once the smoke is clear they open the doors and let the trains through.

I liked the amount of warbonnets units at the time this program was recorded, and also great mix of BNSF paint schemes there.

This is an awesome video for ambience in a home office work day. Always a nice view when I glance at the tablet screen. If you have a subwoofer, the low rumbling of the trains will make good use of it.

it's fun watching trains on tracks i've been on lol.i still say the empire builder is the best amtrak route and to think this was all built by hand, just pick and shovels and blasting powder.

I wonder if this film crew was granted permission to be on the railroad property, I'm guessing not, especially would never allow to be so close. Wonder what BNSF officials would think if they see this

Great quality even for 2010! This area is really nostalgic for me since my family has taken several vacations up the west side of the pass. Sadly, railfanning the line now is nowhere near as interesting as it used to be. No more manifests, just intermodals and empty unit trains; the Woodinville Sub is being torn out, the Snohomish lumber mill burned down, and the Winton woodchip facility stopped shipping by rail a long time ago. Thanks for archiving the Scenic Sub back when there was much more to see. Also, whose idea was it to send loaded grain trains over Stevens? IMO that shouldn't have been approved in the first place lol

Love the video, as others have said, hard to believe this was 14 years ago. I wonder what the people that built the Cascade tunnel would think abut the length and size of the machines that emerge from it today.

At 56:00 Each Car Weighs out at 110 Tonnes multiplied by 111 Cars that is 12,210 Tonnes. To put that in perspective if each each Train Car was loaded with wheat. that would make 3,666.6 loafs of bread per Car. That is 35 Loafs of Bread per Bushel(60 Pounds) of Wheat. That Train if loaded with Wheat would be able to produce 406,992.6 loafs of Bread.(if my Math is Right)

Do you have anything over Stampede Pass between Auburn and Pasco WA. The line is now all welded rail and eastbound empties only.

40:38 I don't advise anyone to cross the tracks to stand in this spot now. That entire area has multiple security cameras overlooking it and they're monitored from the dispatcher center in Ft. Worth.

Love your videos man, amazing history of the routes aswell as great narration. I have one question though, I plan to do videos similar to yours except way more in-depth covering basically every single operation that happens on said line and I was wondering, do you have any “tips” or “tricks” on how to make the videos so good? The other thing is what do you use to make your maps? Highly appreciate it if you’d give me some insight. Thanks

In 2010 were the H2s the bane of existence the H3s have become today and we're H1s and exciting as they have become today because at this point seeing H1s is something maybe 1 to 3 times a month and H2s are becoming more rare on the Scenic subdivision also foreign power of the previously 7 class 1 railroads is difficult and anything else than that is insanely rare.

That is because there is no clutch. Diesel engines power electric traction motors on the locomotive's axles.
