All of your videos offer excellent areas to catch high traffic areas in the western half of the US. I'm in NJ and am considering doing a big loop by heading to NC Transportation Museum, TN Valley RR and picking up I-40 to head west. Later on head back east in the northern states.
Nice work. That's a hell of a lot of trains and cargo.

The Loop itself if there is a landmark to railroading this would be it. This line connects the Bay Area to Barstow and Southern California and is UPs and BNSF's main artery Bakersfield and Stockton are at the top of the map and Barstow and Colton are at the bottom. facing our trains is a 2.4% climb from Mojave to Edison where they enter the Bakersfield Yard. Every railfan knows The Loop and there is even a camera here.

I love your style ! Best rail fanning out there. But you combine it with travel log and history channel styles. Which take your films up a notch. The only improvement would be to stop using the drop frame effect is too disruptive. Could you explain signals and horns more.

Great video. Schneider and Swift are on UP now. Are those telegraph line still there? I assume they got those underground now.
@bigd51010 ай бұрын
No they are not under ground. The control points are controlled by microwave radio and no longer use the telephone wires. You can see at 1:21:15 at the control point for the west end of Woodford (CP SP348 Woodford) the antenna for that control point.
@glennfoster24237 ай бұрын
The pole line carried both communication and signal circuits. Many years ago Sprint replaced the telephone (nee, telegraph) wires. Today, radio communication, through-the-rails circuitry (magic track block electric circuits) and satellites have replaced the clattering relays of yesteryear.

I wonder what the forces would be on The rails in the middle of some of those curves 👍👍
@glennfoster24237 ай бұрын
Although you were not specific, I presume you are interested in the lateral force extant at a point at or near a location in a curve. Good, really complex question with no simple answer. Well, lots of variables involved in your question. Among many variables are operating speed, super elevation, degree of curve, grade and per cent (up hill or downhill), acceleration, during power or braking, etc. The lateral and vertical dynamic forces during operation are always present on either tangent or curve track. A specific force a rolling wheel exerts on the rail (low rail or high rail) is found in some formula I have never heard of, but if you find it, we would all be interested.
@joshjones34087 ай бұрын
@@glennfoster2423 yes sir that ancers my question....I knew there would be things that would have to be accounted for ...but dent ever thank about (up hill down hill). An the acceleration eather.. This is a fine video, but why is there such terrible closed captioning? "to hatch a loop?" bear T Table?" "San wean valley?" Many other mistakes.
@SpeedbirdNine95 ай бұрын
The closed captioning has trouble with some word pronunciations because they spell it the way it sounds not how it looks. Add the fact that some of the words in this video are of Spanish (San Joaquin) and Native American (Tehachapi) origin. Accents sometimes hinder correct pronunciation. San Joaquin is pronounced San "Wah-keen" and Tehachapi is pronounced " Tuh-ha-chuh-pee". That's the trouble with closed captioning.
