Have lived pretty much all my life less than two miles from the railroad in Vancouver. Used to love hearing the horns at night when I was little before the area became a quiet zone. Another fantastic video!

What's a quiet zone -???😗 . Either the 🚂 stopped blowing it's warning whistle. Or it no longer travels thru there to appease the wimps who reside close to the 🚆 road tracks. Along the Banana 🍌 river Melbourne Florida 🐊 a commercial train can barely be heard late at night 🌙. As it's warning whistle blairs from my house🏡. 2 to 5 miles away. Quite soothing actually.🎶🎶🎶.

4449 rests at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center in Portland, She's even more impressive up close than on video and I cannot wait until they decide to take her out again for a run. They're also working on restoring more steam locomotives

Interesting/informative/entertaining. Excellent photography job enabling viewers to better understand what the orator is describing. As an added bonus tug boats/barges shown entering channel locks. Then continuing it's journey. Viewing this presentation from the comfort of my computer. Along the " Space Coast "🚀 of Florida 🐊🐊. Wishing a & rail road 🚂 employees a safe/healthy/prosperous (2024) 🌈🎉😉.

My old route as an engineer for BNSF. Sucked that they lost their minds with their attendance policy which ended my 15yr career because I couldn’t live that way. Was fun running trains though to Pasco and Kalama out of Vancouver. Interesting fact is the Wishram local is long gone and service to Bingen is provided by the Camas Turn job out of Vancouver 3 days a week.

Another spectacular video production. You showed the campground below the John Day Dam. That’s one of our all-time favorite campgrounds with spectacular vistas and UP trains along the campground and BNSF trains across the river. Glad you showed Stonehenge-an amazing spot. We really like traveling the north side of the river with more places where the rails and highway are right next to each other.

1:41:55 "Well, so much for the sweet smell of summer! We admit the loaded garbage train has a certain essence not found with other trains, but when it comes to taking out the trash, the BNSF does it well." Your expertise in trains and videography shines here as well as prose and wit in this segment. Thanks you for all the entertainment!

Magnificent. At 1:40:59, it's amazing how they can take such rough track at speed. Those switches must be tough to get really level.

1:34:10 Lassie and Charlie the Lonesome Cougar were mentioned, I watched that movie and thought that big river looked familiar! When me and my family (travelled from Virginia to Portland Or) chased Daylight 4449 there in September 16th 2006, We have no idea we've passed the Broughton Flume where Lassie and Charlie rode the log in the flume!

Anybody know what a 'Z-train is? Thanks!
@simply_kenetic4915
@simply_kenetic4915 9 ай бұрын
It's a high priority stack/TOFC train, usually carrying both the same goods you'd find on stack trains mixed with high priority mail (UPS, Fed Ex, etc)

Yes I should have explained it better in the program. What @simply_kenetic4915 said. Train symbols are changing all the time but generally the Z is the highest priority. UPS and Fed Ex trailers are usually a good indicator plus extra engines up front.
