Mine was the PS3. Loved Uncharted series, Heavy Rain ,COD, Last of Us, GOW 3, Resistance Fall of Man, etc. I have Rock Band for Xbox 360 and played that every weekend with friends! It was so much fun!! You guys know how I feel about the Wii already. lol. Great video!!

this is the only generation where I have all three consoles the main reason I picked the PS3 first was because it was the best Blu-ray player at the time, my favorite game on it being Uncharted 2 I inherited my wife's Wii when we got married and while I never got used to the Wiimote, I absolutely love Tatsunoko vs Capcom and House of the Dead Overkill lastly I just bought an Xbox 360 two months ago, and I am spending so much time on Forza Motorsport 4

Definitely 360 - Mass Effect Trilogy, Oblivion, all those Gears, and Halo games wow! Life was good but Skyrim is still my favorite of all time playing it primarily for all of 2012 at over 500 hours 😱

Fantastic work fellas! Such a subtle, yet dynamic shift has taken place. The comfort level went through the roof and the discussion is passionate and deeply thought provoking. As for me, I worked at Sony at the time with a PS3 at my desk 6 months before it came out to the public so when it launched I didn't bother waiting in lines. Would just play my games at work after hours until the demand at stores came back down to Earth. I also remember grabbing a Wii at Costco randomly. They just dropped a pallet of Wii's down next to me while I was shopping and I was like holy crap! I snagged one immediately, and they proceeded to sell out in less than 5 minutes. I'd never seen anything like it. Wii Sports may go down in history as the most popular game throughout history for all age ranges. This was such a fun episode. Keep up the great job fellas! Really enjoyed how you threw in the fun facts on the screen while discussing games. You guys are going places. Stay SMASHING!

You were at Sony too JTI was at the Sony London studio from 2000 till 2012 and was Dev director at the time PS3 came out. I worked a lot with Phil Harrison, as he was based in my studio, on games for the PS3. I remember get the first Dev kit about 18 months from launch. That thing was ugly. Where abouts did you work? It would be great to share some old war stories :)

At Sony we got to pick our PSN names 12 months before launch and I got my PS3 2 weeks before it was out. I have all the consoles, but the PS3 was super special to me. I created the PlayStation Trophy system which went onto every single console and every single console since. And whilst I made some big games, the trophies were a pretty good gaming legacy. For me at least. And then I loved Gears, that game was amazing. Uncharted and LBP were my games of the generation, but there were so many great games in this generation. I think people will also recognise this gen as the gen that moved gaming away from physical games. Great show guys, one of the best of the year. Amazing work.

Great video! This was the generation that got me back into gaming. I did skip the Ps3, but the Wii was are family console and I loved my Xbox 360. These machines were way ahead their time. I appreciate the Wii more now than I used to (mainly to play light gun games). The Xbox 360 will always have a place in home. Playing Left 4 Dead 1 &2 got my wife into gaming!

I loved the Wii. I played lots of Super Smash Bros. Brawl back when I first got it for my 11th birthday, as well as Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda Twilight Princess, and Sonic Colors. I also liked the Virtual Console (wish they would have brought that back for the Switch) and WiiWare games (Mega Man 10 being my favorite Wii Ware title), and the GameCube backwards compatibility was a nice feature, especially for those who never had a GameCube. (I still use my GameCube though, mostly for the GameBoy Player.)

Nice video! My personal favourites from this generation were/are: Gears 1-3, Halo 3&4, Killzone 2, Ridge Racer 7, Uncharted 2&3, The Last of Us, Mario Galaxy 1&2, Zelda - Twilight Princess, Castlevania - Lords of Shadow, Bioshock. And there are a lot more so brilliant games which were released in this era of gaming!

The 7th generation could arguably be labeled as one of the best and if you consider handhelds then the argument gets even stronger. Each of the three consoles had their strengths and weaknesses but the Wii in particular extracted a lot of creativity from developers due to its lack of power and unique control scheme. The result was a completely new way to game, ( I guess the VR would be this generation’s Wii) and that is one of the coolest aspects of the 7th gen.

It is a great generation for sure and yes the handhelds from this era are amazing. We don't do a ton of handheld gaming but totally agree. Love collecting for this generation right now as well, so fun. Thanks so much for watching, cheers!

my favorite aspect of 7th gen. 1.Summer of arcade 2.Online community 3.The Rise of mega midnight launch events (Halo 3) 4. 2007 and 2010, epic years with over 80 awesome games 5.rpg aspects in noone rpg games (Re 4 mechanics) 6.Rise of video gaming Broadcasting (Yt started about the same time as 7th gen) 7. online store sales 8.Bioshock, Halo 3, Cod mw1, Dead space, borderlands, Dragon age and on and on 9.Return of retro (Wii virtual, Arcade store e.tc) 10.So many Racing games. 11.Ds and psp, two great portable consoles 12.So many varied form of games(Indie,Arcade,Vc,AA,super mall games,AAA, First party,Steam) 13. I love and hate the push for online in every game.

Gen 7 started 2005/2006!! Wow!! I remember the RROD pushing back over to PS3! I had a load of games ready to play on Christmas and I got the RROD for the like the 7th time!! Next day I binned it and got a PS3 😂 I've only just gotten over my bitterness to grab a 360 for the retro collection! Haha! A lot of what you mention about the Wii I felt the same way about back then! Funny how times change! The full backwards compatible PS3 is my fave and MGS4 is amazing!! Another awesome trip down memory lane guys! Can't wait for this gen to end now 😂

I think this was the last great gaming generation. I owned all three during this 7th generation and this is time they were still making new franchises like gears of war, uncharted, resistance. Started with 8th generation I have only owned a ps4. I say that 7 th generation was the last great generation of gaming because we still had new franchises being made at this time. Starting with 8th generation things were starting to go downhill because they are two many sequels, remakes and reboots now. They do not have new ideas on how to make new franchises anymore.

Ahhh those console were absolutely awesome to play and so much fun, had the Wii when I was coming into the 7 generations, and my first game was Mario kart Wii and super mario galaxy, up to now I got both of them the PS3 and Wii, since I’ve became a game hunter and playing those awesome classics. Just wanted to mention something about the Wii...if you have a large Virtual Console library and play on a CRT, you can set the output of the Wii to 480i and it will display 95% of the games in 240p. This is much sharper than when they display in 480i, as it is the original resolution they were intended to be played in. This also works on an HDTV as long a your TV accepts 240p over component, which many do. I have a Samsung 4k TV and it does 240p beautifully, but looks like trash when upscaling these 8 bit and 16 bit games with its internal scaler. Sorry to ramble...just food for thought.

This was a generation I spent a lot of time with. I never had a PS3 but I had a Wii pretty quickly after launch and picked up a 360 as my first big purchase after I got my teaching job. I mostly played Galaxy 1 and 2 and Halo Reach. God of War 3 was also really good! I need to try the Gears of War and Infamous series. Wes, it's so funny that you say we all have one GTA in us. I've played Vice City so much and I play through it completely every few years but I've never finished another one even though I've started 3, San Andreas and 4.

Gears is a great co-op game. Definitely one you need to visit at some point. Vice City is my favorite as well. I have played all the others but lose interest around the half way point every time. I think the diversity in this generation was great. The Wii is a console that I play with my kids, The 360 is the go to console for Shumps and FPS games and the PS3 has an overwhelming library that includes tons of great "collection" type games like Tomb Raider Collection, Devil May Cry, Ratchet & Clank Collections. Also, SONY just hit home run after home run with the exclusives.

GTA V is my favorite GTA game. Vice City is 2nd, being the two I played the most and as much. I have beat GTA V on 360, PS4, and Xbox One. We would recommend it. The Wii and PS3 are nice but they aren't true light guns. They serve the purpose but still not the traditional feel. The PS2 has some hammers in the light gun category. We did a video on it a while back called PS2's little secret or something like that. Time Crisis 2 and 3, Vampire Nights, Ninja Assassin and Dino Stalker all are bad ass. So if you have some extra cash take the leap. Cheers!

Still yet to own an XBox, hate the controller. I preferred the Wii version of RE4, definitively the BEST version of that game. I did enjoy my PS3, still have it and my Wii, but never played the PS3 as much as the Wii. Regarding HD DVD, one of the biggest reasons why it lost to Blu-Ray was why VHS beat out Beta. The adult film industry adopted the Blu-Ray format and that is what helped kill HD DVD, seriously.

Now that is a fun fact :)! Never would have thought about that but it makes sense lol. We just recently picked up RE 4 on the Wii but haven't got around to it yet. Played though it a ton on the PS2. I frikkin love this, but I’m still trying to process this being the 7th gen of consoles...holy hell do I feell old now. ☹️. Gotta be honest, I completely gave a middle finger at first to the PS3, after having a PS2, because It wasn’t backwards compatible (except at launch) and I was adverse as hell to online gaming after grown up playing local coop, but I did buy into the wii for me and the kiddos and it was awesome. And as you guys know I got the PS3 used specifically for dead storm pirates because the kids loved it in arcade and this was the only way to get it. I have to agree, because of the online gaming ability and connectivity this gen definitely changed everything and it will never be the same. Cheers fellas.

I remember calling Best Buy everyday to get a XBOX 360 and they finally had one a week after release and I picked it up (I was so lucky). I ended up working at Best Buy that next fall and I remember how crazy the release was for PS3 and then Wii. It was madness.

Much Like Wes, I wrote the Wii off as a child's toy and damn was I right. Ok maybe not. I missed out on some great games and now it's so hard to get back to them because of the time crunch. I also spent so many late nights playing modern Warfare. I'll never forget leaving work early to go try and get my K/D up a few tenths of a percent. I also remember the first Blu ray I watched was Apocalypto and my nuts exploded. It looked so much better than anything I'd ever seen. I remember saying that TVs can't get better hahaha.

It's crazy how many folks crap on the Wii. Sure it's not the most powerful but it has some bangers on it. I think some folks think it's all shovelware on the console. Yes, there is a lot of it but there's a lot of must play titles as well. Thanks for watching this oldie :). Cheers!

Never been an Xbox guy, so I only have the Wii and PS3. PS3 is my favorite, hands down! I love the Wii, but I find myself playing the PS3 far more. Resident Evil 5 & 6, God of War III, Fist of the North Star, Darksiders... bunch of great games; and also a ton of great stuff in the PS store!

I got the Wii release day but didn’t get many games for it. 360 was about a year late ( og 360 still going strong btw 🤘) but it was so freaking good. Definitely my top choice. The life cycle is what I wish we still saw. Getting a good 10 years before a new console would be great. Nintendo is pretty consistent with every 5 years ish and that’s too short.

The 7th generation of consoles was a mixed bag. I enjoyed the games, but disliked the hardware. Motion controls wasn't my thing, the Red Ring of Death was an embarrassment to Microsoft, & the PS3 had issues with running certain titles. That being said, I enjoyed Oblivion, Skyrim, Eternal Sonata, Deathsmiles, Fallout 3, & Dragon Age: Origins.

Totally agree with you on the hardware side of things. So many issues. The Wii has recently grown to be a console that I appreciate a lot more now but at the time I hated motion controls. Still don't love them but love the light gun game offerings on the Wii. Great games you bring up as well. Forgot to mention the Fallout series in this episode, tons of hours went into New Vegas. Sweet! Love this series! Oh man, GoW was soooo good with a buddy! Aw, cute little Robert! Some buddies and I had so, so much fun with the Wii--and such a fun story of just getting the damn thing! Also, a friend of mine and I legit had a slight bout of tennis elbow from friggin' Wii Sports... lol Hazing the Wii... What a...wait for it--Hazer! We've got the HD-DVD drive for the 360--partially for the collection and partially because it's so little and cute--that's what Lady Laci thinks. lol Ha ha--to think that THIS was the generation that the 3DO strove to be. LOL Man, GTAV and the Last of Us alone on the PS3--YES! Some really great digital titles that never got a physical release but that we'll never delete--please live on PS3! Hehe, "chill out"--we will NEVER!!! Good choice on the quad and 100% agree on it as a good starter. Boulevard, what I really seem to like about them is that they're a nice bridge brew; a good place to go to get from the cheaper standards into that craft scene.

PlayStation 3 has to be Valkyria Chronicles it felt like that it had cell shading of PlayStation 2 graphics, The Last of Us and GTA 5 and I don't know if you can beat the runner at 80 percent stamina and there was a launch title I believe and it was bad and I think it had something called nectar or honey. Xbox 360 has to be Fallout, Simpson's and Scott Pilgrim and I don't remember the video I watched but a guy had a PlayStation 3 that could run PlayStation 1 games but like I said I don't remember. Wii and has to be Ghost Squad. And I was wired for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 because that's how I was. And there was something special for the original PlayStation and that was you could put any CD in the PlayStation for the game Monster Rancher. And take this with a grain of salt and that's Resident Evil 4 was the last great Resident Evil game at the time being and I didn't like 5 and 6 because the genre changed of survival horror to co-op and they're good but when I hear Resident Evil I just hear the only in the dark with Resident Evil. If I wanted to play horror co-op I would play House of the Dead
