This ad was used in the anthology film called the “Fantastic Animation Festival” from 1977, a series of 16 shorts combined into one full length animated feature, and also throw in a Superman cartoon called “The Mechanical Monsters” from 1941 which was added to the lineup.

Note the credit for Con Pederson on the slate at the head of this video.. the same Con Pederson credited as a vfx supervisor on "2001: A Space Odyssey", who along with Doug Trumbull (and others) created the "mind bender" sequence at the end of that film, using similar motion control camera backlit optical "streak" effects..
@w6wdh11 күн бұрын
Bob Abel and Con Pederson hired me in 1973 - a high school / college student - to build motion control equipment for them. I sold them my 16 bit minicomputer and wired it to their camera track and stepper motors. The UNCOLA artwork (stars) that arcs up into the frame? I wrote a program in Fortran to generate the arc motion and shot that element on my birthday in 1975, sitting in the dark by the camera track, typing away on an ASR-33 Teletype. Fun stuff.

I'm straight up ❤️ing this 1975 Commercial..... I'm not kidding! Seriously ⚠️..... This is the best futuristic (pre computerized/psychedelical) art commercial that I have ever seen in my entire life......... The trouble with me is that, I was born in 1977..... two years later, after the 7-up commercial was aired...... 48 years later today in 2023.....?!? Well...!?!??🤔🌈🍦💙🤍❤️🇺🇸 This is very artistic and creative... Hi Tech '70s..... indeed... Thanks Alot for Playing this video 🌈💙🤍❤️🇺🇸 The best distinguished advertised commercial ad ever.

it should remind you of that video, 'cause robert abel was co-director of the video and his company did the visual effects for Can You Feel It.

The animation was done by Klein & Associates who also did the 1976 Columbia “Sunburst” logo and of course “Tron”.

I can't belive this was made in '75. It has more of a late 80's or early 90's fell to it. And it does remind me of the Jacksons 1980 "Can You Feel It" video.

@Mukmeguil WRONG! In those days we had just come out of VIet Nam and Watergate. People wanted to forget those times. Gone were bell bottom jeans, the earthy look and protesting. People wanted to feel glamorous, gorgeous, chic and have fun. Disco was just coming on strong, and most were glitzy fantasy lands of art deco/moderne (reflected in this ad). Anything dazzling interested us, and this ad was dazzling. Trust me. I was there. I think you're looking at this in today's perspective.

On the technical aspect it is incredible for its time. But, a whole minute, it doesn't makes you feel attached to the product. Not a very good marketing method.
